Anybody watch this? It was on right before the Sopranos...
It was pretty moving, but I definitely had to check in and out more than a few times
it did get dusty in the room on more than one occasion...
May God strike me dead if I ever say a bad word about our soldiers...all those guys are saints...

I watched it last night, it was amazing. It really brings the experience of the war and the tragedy of it home. The one soldier who came in with an injury from an IED blast and then they show later that he got hit three more times after that. Unreal. The soldiers who are told their going home and they freak out because they don't want to go home. They would rather go back for their buddies, it just shows how they look at each other as brothers and sisters. It's a heartwrenching movie though really well worth a watch if you didn't get to see it.

http://www.hbo.com/docs/programs/baghdader/

I found an article with the mother of one of the soldier who came in and the doctors who scrambled to try and save his life, though they couldn't do anything for him.

http://www.abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=1968943&page=1&WNT=true

I watched it too and I thought I would be grossed out by the wounds and amputated limbs, but it didn't seem to bother me. What got to me was how dedicated these soilders are to defending our country and their brothers.

Thanks for the link to that article, Reef. It's good to know the footage helped her.

I was also amazed when they said that one guy had hit 3 more IED's. I don't know if you call it bad luck that he was blown up 4 times, or good luck that he survived 4 times.

i hope to watch it and i know that it will not only make me sad but 'pretty damn angry'. i can't help it, the first thought that always comes to my mind is 'was it really necessary?'

it takes nothing away from the courage and dedication of these soldiers. the TEAM spirit within the ranks is EXTREMELY inspirational!!!!!!

The movie was a great piece of work - gut-wrenching, moving and inspiring in turn. I had squeezed out a manly tear or two before it was over.

I agree with all the affirmations about how great our soldiers are but I would quibble a bit about El Mudo calling them saints. I understand where he's coming from, but to call them saints in some ways minimizes their achievement; saints are somehow beyond human, these people are very human but are also are stepping up and taking the pain, sometimes horrifically so, for the decisions our leaders are making in our name. So I'd call them heroes, especially in the ancient Greek manner.

I was just looking for a term to emphasize how much I love and admire them...I don't usually speak in hyperbole, but I figured that was the best characterization I could make
