i am surprised only because it has a great leading actor, great director and great material to work with. The books are never as good as the book. Oh well. i will save my $$$ for Xmen next week.

I'm going to echo Ronnie's feelings on this book. The back story of the Grail, Mary Magdalen, The Knights Templar, and the Church were interesting and I will try to learn more about that stuff.

The book was just hack all the way through. I saw every twist well before it was reveled I was never once surprised. It was run of the mill at best.

Not really. Its a work of fiction. Unfortunately, people like my
brother are taking it as being plausible and believeable. But my
brother will believe anything. Despite the facts. It would have been
nice if Ron Howard would have put a disclaimer on the film, saying it
is a work of fiction, but all "movies" are fiction. Even in
"Documentaries" there can be alot of dispute about what is fact and how
it is presented. In a Movie, its just pure entertainment, with no
serious attempt to be factual. Its called "artistic license". But
some people aren't able to makre those distinctions.
Anyone who goes into this movie thinking that it's "based on fact" is wrong. The whole "Priory of Sion," a key element in the book, was a hoax created in 1956 by Pierre Plantard. I haven't read the book, but I watched a whole lot of the Discovery Channel last weekend and they had a bunch of specials on the subject.

Man, that movie was kinda boring. And it had more endings the RETURN OF THE KING.

It's a rental.

Doesn't it have the same plot twist as "The Crying Game"?

Just got back from seeing this pile o' crap. Tom Hanks' hair and bloatedness was interesting, but the rest was zzzzzzzzz. Plus there was some idiot lady next to me screeching "Oh No!" "oh, Jesus" "He Didn't" EVERY TIME SOMETHING HAPPENED. I'm too ornery to go out in public anymore.

Oh, and they had a gigantic warning poster at the entrance to the theater to let people know there would be a 2 minute trailer of the World Trade Center movie.
