So i have this idea

Movie companies or just film makers should
make the commentary and put it on the internet for sale or for free
what ever floats there boat

like i would so see a moive a extra time jsut to do this i love commentary and it would make me see more movies

i belive it to be a genius idea that woudl make more moeny for the movie companies

oh wait or you could see the movie then dl the movie and watch the commentary at home

damm i flawed my own genius plan

well you all ignore my idea but Kevin Smith Wrote me on myspace

"This has already been planned for months now. Weinstein Company suggested it, and I was all over that shit.

Kevin"

soo anyway i thought i was a genius but they already are on it

but i can still tell people i had the idea just not first enough

It's a very intresting idea but I don't think it will be a major thing that will save the movie industry. Most people don't have any intrestest in Film Commentary, and many of those who do won't want to make another trek to the theater and put up with idiots in the theater to listen to it, they'd rather wait for the DVD and watch it on their own terms.

But it would be a very cheap thing for film makers to do. Ron Moore does this for his show, one could do the same for a film and even a few extra tickets sold would pay for the cost of producing the commentary file (Which Ron desribed on his pod cast once as a stand alone box with a button that marks the commercial breaks, which wouldn't be needed on a film!)

Sheepy, it could actually work. They could post the commentary on a platform like iTunes and then people could download it and go to the movie, and play it on their ipods while watching the movie.

kinda is annoying is i read some online articles about the in theater
comentary and they are like oh kevin smith is brilliant for thinking of
this like i came up with the idea may 16th or i told him about it i
came up wth it the day before but i only have proof of the 16th then he
is like oh its in the works

Read this from the NY Times

"He has been cultivating fans on the Web for years, using his production

has recorded a commentary for "Clerks II" that will be available for
free download on iTunes, encouraging viewers to take their iPods to the
theater for a second viewing. (Eventually the commentary will also be
available on the official movie site,"

thats my ingenious ploy

am i wrong? what the hell man Even with the word Genious in it

what up kevin

This has actually been done since 2002 at the twice a year Cinema Wasteland Convention in Cleveland, with actors from the "Evil Dead" movies, or the original "Night of the Living Dead," or HG Lewis with "2000 Maniacs" on hand doing it. For the audience it can be fun or annoying depending on who is doing it - much like DVD commentary tracks.

What about Rocky horror, people go see that one all the time and act the crap out, isn't that similar enough to movie commentary, how is anyone gonna claim intellectual property?
Dante and Randal (Brian and Jeff) were on O&A on Friday and mentioned this. Does anyone know when the Commentary Track for Clerks II will be available? They mentioned it would be on iTunes and www.clerksii.com

They said it would be released like a week after the movie was.
There may be one issue with this idea. On a DVD when you watch commentary the movie's soundtrack is turned down. Some people may have issues hearing people talk on their iPods in a movie theater with the movie cranked way up, at least with regular ear buds.

I've been listening to some of the rifftrax (http://rifftrax.com/) and on this latest one he seems to make two references that make me thinks he might be an O&A listener; The CSI Miami David Caruso openings and the Mobile, Alabama "leprechaun in the tree" news report. Of course they are not direct O&A references so I could be wrong...

in willy wonka, after the 'you get nothing, you lose!' clip
mike nelson yells out the pacino/b.a.c. holder 'hooooahhhhh'

so it might be an r+f thing too

kevin murphy would be a great guest on the show

his book 'a year at the movies' was really good
