Can't say that I'm shocked - let's also look forward to next year when they roll out something, i'm sure, for the 30th anniversary of the films.

I already own DVDs of the original trilogy in the original release. Pretty well produced DVDs too, with interviews and trailers taken from previous laser discs, etc.

I wonder when GL will release Episode IV with all the additional footage of Luke hangin' with his friends on Tattooine. I have that footage. It's quite good and the dialog is important.

C'mon Fox...release the definitive "special edition" and be done with it.

I also have a great set of the originals on DVD (Done in the Laserdisc "The Definitive Collection" style) I actually have a whole row of DVDs, the movies, interviews, several making of specials, the Christmas Special, deleted scenes, The Muppet Show host by Luke Skywalker and Mark Hammil, old Kenner Toy commercials, etc)

This move by Lucas is no suprise at all, he is always changing his mind:

Star Wars was to be 9 movies, but he changed that to 6. He'll probably change it back to 9 maybe 12 if he's in the right mood

Anakin and Vader were supposed to be two seperate characters, Obi Wan was supposed to be Luke Father. George just changed his mind.

That means you'll be able to enjoy Star Wars as it first appeared in 1977, Empire in 1980, and Jedi in 1983.

I wonder if fans will be upset if it's just like the original except that Star Wars' opening credits say Episode IV instead of the orginal version with no episode numbering.

of course they would...

I don't think I want the 1977 Lucas. How about the 2006 version, where his head is on Jabba's body, and that little squaking pet hides under his chin.

Lucas can fuck himself with a womp-rat.

No way I'm spending a
DIME on Star Wars shit ever again. I got that stupid DVD set and I was
PISSED when I saw the computer graphics! I'm going to demand either
they exchange the "Special" edition with the new unaltered one, or give
me my fucking money back! Or the third possibility - I take it in the
ass and like it... Yea thats probably going to happen...

I wish there was a way they could put out a set where you could actually select some of the updated FX they did for the newer versions...a good 75% of it was unecessary, distracting garbage, but the rest I didn't mind...more vivid backgrounds, improved space battles, etc., etc..

I was always more of a Trek fan, but thought Star Wars was good too.

Lucas is such a fucking whore at this point nothing surprises me. I agree with Terragen. If they don't give you the option to exchange the movies with the new stuff for the original there should be a class action lawsuit against the fucking asshole.

I wonder if Lucas could re-digitized characters in and out of the
movies. Like replace Mark Hammil with Brad Pitt. Carrie Fisher with
Angelina Jolie, Harrison Ford with George Clooney. Call it Star Wars
the 2006 version.

After all he did it in Return of the Jedi with the Ghost of Anakin.

robot chicken is too fucking funny, i never miss it.
In time i do think we will see a remake of Star wars. Either with an all star line up clamouring for their place in movie supremacy or anther group of unknowns on the brink of stardom

WITH ALL THE DOUBLE DIPPING THE STUDIOS ARE MAKING US THE CONSUMER DO NOWADAYS IN ALL OF THESE SPECIAL EDITIONS OF THIS AND THAT AND THAT GEORGE LUCAS IS DOING THIS IS ACTUALLY NOT SHOCKING AT ALL. I JUST THINK IT SUCKS THE WAY WE ARE CONSTANTLY MADE TO DOUBLE DIP.

I OF COURSE WILL BE RIGHT THERE PLUNKING MY MONEY DOWN WITH EVERYONE ELSE WHENEVER IT GOES ON SALE. I HAVE ALWAYS BEING A STAR WARS FAN. STAR TREK WAS OK BUT I WAS NEVER BIG ON IT. I DON'T EVEN OWN ANY OF THE MOVIES AND THE ONLY STAR TREK MOVIES THAT EVEN GOT MY ATTENTION WERE 1-5. WITH 2 THE WRATH OF KHAN BEING THE BEST IN MY OPINION AND 4 & 5 THE WORST.
