Ever ask yourself that? I just intsalled and then uninstalled a small codec pack to view an out of country movie file. Of course, the uninstall leaves behind a couple things so you go in there and take them out yourself.

Have any of you ever gone into your Program Files folder and looked at all the shit old programs drops in there? Jesus. I like to think I'm doing all I can with antivirus, spyware scanners and pop up blockers to keep my computer clean but I should keep an even tighter grip on what I install.

Do yourself a favor. Go to My Computer, open the Local Disc:C drive, open Program Files and read all the folder names in there. You're probably gonna find like 5-10 things you don't even realize is on your computer.

If you want it off, Start Menu, Control Panel, Add and Remove Programs and select to delete. Also, some programs have their own internal Uninstall in the Start Menu folder for it or within the program itself.

Just a heads up and also a place to discuss strange shit on your comp.

Jep, damn spyware. There are some nasty things out there.

Another tip I have is to keep an eye on your Windows task manager. This will inform you of all of the processes running on your computer.

Cntl>ALT>Delete click on the 'processes' tab. Take a screen shot, of all the processes. Compare processes running on your comp to searches on the web. I have found processes that are clues to spyware running on my machine. running that need to be hunted down and eliminated.

*note*

99% of the processes are needed and some are hard to identify. Don't delete anything unless you know for sure it is known to be bad.

How did this get on my computer?
Your response to when your girlfriend asks you about that hidden folder of videos.

I was hoping to eliminate some because I usually have 50-55 running at all times, but unfortunately they are all needed.

Process Library

Sometimes installing software includes other software (spyware) that you don't want. To me, the worst one is when you install AIM, it also installs Viewpoint video player. I always uninstall it as soon as I install AIM.
