The Joan Cusack Same Movie Character Enough Thread

Whether she was Julia Roberts friend at the hair salon in Runaway Bride, or John Cusack's sister (imagine that) in Say Anything, or any number of awful roles she's been in she just seems to play the same tired character in every single movie. It's sad to me that her only creative role I can think of that she has done in years was as Jessie, the cowgirl to the Woody character in Toy Story 2. </p><p>Granted I don't think she's a bad actress, but rather someone who has seemed to find a way to play pretty much the same character in every movie she's in. I just think it's about enough at this point and she should try something more challenging.</p>

She's a not-so-attractive woman with a kind of whiny voice.&nbsp; I'd say that the fact that she ends up in the same types of parts has more to do with what Hollywood offers her based on the above rather than her talents as an actress.

I dig her - she is the queen of small roles in good movies - Grosse Point Blank, 16 Candles, Broadcast News, Say Anything, My Blue Heaven, In or Out and she did a good job with the voice in Toy Story 2. She's always a riot when I see her interviewed.
