Hey any of you guys ever hear of a group called " Cowboy Mouth " ?? They're from New Orleans. I used to see them all the time when I was down there. They are playing Irving Plaza next week. They really kick ass. They have a kind of southern rock sound. You should check them out if you're into that kinda music at all.

Bumping this almost 10 year old thread because they're playing along w/ Dash Rip Rock ( another group that was huge on the college scene back in the 90's ) at Irving Plaza on 2/10.
I hate that they always play weeknight shows.
I posted that on Facebook and they replied that they've found that people in NYC have better things to do on a weekend.

I remember them. I saw them a couple times at Mardi Gras during the 90's. A lot of fun.

Yeah, I love them.
They used to play in Baton Rouge a few times a year and I remembered hating seeing them every time since it seemed like the same set.
But now that I only catch them every now and again I dig it.
Plus it's cool seeing how many LSU people are actually in the NYC area.
Still not sure if I'm gonna make this but I'm gonna try.

I actually don't know if I've ever heard it.
I'm not at all a fan of Bruce but that is one of the songs I like.
I'll have to give it a listen.

Cowboy Mouth is terrific; one of my favorites!
Great, fun, southern rock, with a punk appreciation. (One of their songs is called "Joe Strummer.") The drummer/lead singer, Fred, is an absolute maniac on stage.
Discovered them at Jazzfest in 2000, and have been a fan ever since.
I plan on being at the Irving Plaza show, plus they'll be back in the area (north Jersey) in June, too.
They're definitely not doing the same set. Their latest album, "Fearless," came out a year or two ago, and they mix it up pretty well now.

I saw Dash Rip Rock at a small dive bar in Pensacola in 1988. Hell of a good show. They broke the stage.

LS Who?????
Saw and heard them a lot at Ole Miss in the 90's. Saw them at the New Orleans Jazz Fest one year. All I remember from Dash Rip Rock was their cover of 'Let's go to the Hop' (Let's go smoke some pot). Might try to go to this show, as a blast from the past.

Dash is most known, " nationally " I guess, for that " Let's Go Smoke Some Pot " song.
Their best album I think is " Boiled Alive ".
The lead singer of Cowboy Mouth, Fred Leblanc, was in Dash before they started CM.
Of the 2 I think CM is much better as Dash is very gimmicky.
