<p>Does anyone here watch g4 the channel that used to be Techtv?</p><p>so
first comcast bought tech tv and it was sorta okay most things were the
same there was some new shows that kinda stunk but werent too aweful </p><p>then all of a suddon they changed </p><p>they got rid of call for help and all tech related programs and slowly slid into G4 4 of what Gs who knows but it was g4</p><p> okay so they still had screen savers oh wait it changed its name ot attack of the show cause i guess it attacked</p><p>it still had some of the tech news i want and video game stuff nerdy content alright thats cool</p><p>but now</p><p>now why</p><p>what are they dooing read this </p><p> <a href="http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117941685?cs=1&s=h&p=0" target="_blank">a scaled-back focus on technology. Heavier emphasis will be on attitude, humor and a broader range of male-oriented topics.</a></p><p>so now some chick named oliva munn but when you look her up her name is lisa and howard Chick joins the channel </p><p>and they want to make it male-oriented? </p><p>I know i can just read video game reviews and tech news and what ever i already do</p><p>but like its fun to have a show to watch with the topics you like </p><p>what
i don't understand they want to get away from tech but they are still
going to e3 live and want it to be male-oriented what ever that means
and are going live to the sandiago comic con </p><p>it's like they want to be a mtv for perverts who only want cars, big boobs, and beer<br />
</p><p> </p>

I used to enjoy the channel for the computer and video game news. Then it just became shit, every show had to have skits and comedy. Then they starting picking up non-tech shows and the channel was just ruined.<br />

<p>The<strong> X-Play</strong> formula seems to be working. They are actually pretty funny at times, and the game reviews are'nt bad either. </p><p><img height="569" src="http://www.doorfromhell.com/thelair/blogimages/TheRock_MorganWebb_FHM_November2004_01.jpg" width="416" border="0" /></p>

I watch the Man Show reruns. So I guess the change worked in that I watch now and I didn't before, if only for one show.

<p>I'll never stop likeing x-play i would like them to lay off some of
the bits and get to games like they go for the bad game to review for
the jokes more then just reviewing games </p><p>They got lost in
makeing the skits then to focus on the purpose of the show sometimes
they get so into jokes that i cant tell if its a positive review or a
negitive till the Rateing at the end so like thats really anoying </p><p>but how soon before they can Adam </p>

<p>Business. It's that simple.</p><p>Last year G4 hit the 50 million homes mark. When you do that, you come into some major competition and in order to get higher rates for your commericals, you have to get higher ratings.</p><p>"it's like they want to be a mtv for perverts who only want cars, big boobs, and beer"</p><p>Yep. Because that will bring in ratings, and that will bring in $$$$.</p><p>Those interesting tech shows that you liked? You'd be better finding one on a public access channel, because those people don't have profits to worry about.</p><p>This is the same reason why "video" channels such as MTV & VH1 don't really play videos anymore. Videos don't get ratings. Videos don't bring in money.</p><p><br /> </p>

Laporte, Patrick Norton etc. podcasts.</p><p>Its really cool stuff and they have the ability to do stuff they never did on Tech TV.<br />

After reading how they were changing the network, I haven't even flipped to the channel once since E3, and even the stuff I saw on their E3 showing made me want to turn it off.<br />

Changing again:
In its bid for the largely untapped metrosexual viewership, NBCUniversal is set to rebrand G4 channel as the Esquire channel.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the NBCUniversal-owned cable network has closed a deal with Esquire parent Hearst Corporation to shift the former gaming network to a destination more in line with the modern male. The effort is designed to capture a growing, upscale demographic that isn't being reached through other male networks, including adrenaline-heavy Spike and History.
Some of the new programming -- which will focus on such genres as cooking, travel and fashion -- already is in production as the rebrand is expected to take place during the first half of 2013, according to sources. True to the decade-old network's heritage, there will be gaming fare as well.
An NBCU spokesperson declined comment.
The news comes nearly a year after NBCU cable entertainment chairman Bonnie Hammer hired longtime NBC marketing executive Adam Stotsky to take the helm as general manager at G4. Earlier this fall, his team canceled the network's Attack of the Show! and X-Play, a move that followed press reports of the net's desire to include more than simply geek TV.
In exploring potential partners, NBCU had conversations with Hearst rival Conde Nast as well. For their part, NBC and Hearst Corp. have a history, having served as co-owners of A&E Networks as recently as this summer, when the former sold its 15.8 percent stake for $3.03 billion. Hearst maintains an ownership stake in the cable group, which includes Lifetime, A&E, History and Bio.

Man once that Olivia Munn realized she needed to jump ship the writing was on the wall.
I hope Morgan Webb lands on her feet or my face.
