For those of you unaware, Saturday May 6 is free comic book day. This is an annual event for comic book stores, distributors and creators to raise awareness of the industry and to help promote literacy through free comics.

This year ronfez.net is supporting this event by raising awareness of our membership of this event. For more information and to find out where your nearest comic book shop is, check out freecomicbookday.com

To discuss comic books, feel free to join our current comic book thread. Feel free to talk about what free books you think will be cool below or to just give the location or your local shop.

Free books this year include an Archie Comic, a Bongo (Simpsons) comic, and an X-Men/Runaways comic. For a full list, check out the sponsor page on the FCBD website.

Personally, I frequent Comic Book Warehouse behind the Nanuet Mall in Nanuet, NY. Good service, kind and knowledgable staff and occassionally come in contact with some industry related people.

I buy my comics at

Stinky's Comics -
3838 Sunrise Hwy
Seaford
New York
11783-2634
516.541.6487

When the guy at the counter is named "Stinky" you know its got to be good. I've known Stinky for around 12 years and found him to be knowledgable, funny and a real character. He has a good selection of comics, action figures and other cool stuff.

Weird as hell. Last two callers mentioned FunnyBooks and Sci-Fi City. I live in a suburb of Orlando and have intended to go to Sci-Fi City, after I moved here at 9. But from the years of 2-8, I frequented what is now FunnyBooks, because I lived down the road on Katherine Rd.

I wanted to call in, but I got a busy signal...
