I've been thinking about it some more. I'm starting to hear it as "farm" every time I listen to it, now. Plus, in addition to the Scottish farmer thing, he says "fight" in the very next verse (I don't need to fight, to prove I'm right). It doesn't make much sense for him to say he fights for his meals in one verse, then follow it up in the next verse with "I don't need to fight".

From what I learned in elementary school. that I can remember, is that hair types are different.
It's like, there are different growth patterns. Hair on your head and face can grow forever. Your pubes and leg and arm hairs can only grow to a distance, and they quit (not sure why). But there are hairs, like the inside of your ear that cause vibrations so you can hear, and they never grow back if they're gone.

So I don't have the real answer, but maybe this can help you figure out the scientific reason why.
