View Full Version : One Album Wonders

I'm not talking about one hit wonders, I mean one album wonders. THere's so many bands like this. They put out a first album that doesn't have a bad track on the entire thing. They look like they're going to be huge and then. . . . . the highly anticipated second release . . has maybe one good track on it. Here's a starter

First album was great. Great, funky party music filled with infectious grooves. N'Dea Davenport was a revelation. And then. . . . not much else worth listening to after that.

Any others?

Blind Faith never really had a follow up together, although the members all went on to great careeers.

There are a few odd B-sides and import releases, and the live stuff, though.

Jimmy Bell's Still in Town by 15.60.75 (aka the Numbers Band) is the greatest album no one has ever heard of. I know they've put out other records in Cleveland, but I've only ever heard their debut.

Everything else after that just seemed to miss the mark, with a few exception songs here and there.

WhistlePig yer Presidents Of The United States Of America pic is busted.... but good point. Didn't they recently reunite? Heh, I kind of got a kick out of them breaking up for "artistic reasons" after their hit album. It was done with a wink as I recall.
Sorry, I can't get any of the links to a graphic to work! But yeah, the Presidents
did just reunite and their new songs are really good (heard new stuff on MySpace).
Nothing could beat that first album, though.
