I just noticed the same thing--what used to be High Voltage on my DirectTV lineup
turned into something called "The Chill" I'm fucking pissed! I'm going to the XM
website to see what the hell is going on. I had a feeling this channel wouldn't last
on TV. Probably some moms bitched about their kids tuning it in so they took it
away.

No R&F on Direct TV? How are all the Latin Americans going to listen, now? They should all protest by not going to work or spending money on May 1st.

Here's the email I got in response to mine:

Thank you for writing. I'm sorry, but we no longer carry the High
Voltage station. I understand that this station was important to you
and we are sorry we can no longer provide it. However, we value your
feedback and I have forwarded your comments on to DIRECTV
management.
We often change programming based on customer requests, and we
conduct customer surveys on a regular basis to get programming
ideas. Our various research methods ensure that we consider the best
programming options for our customers.
Since you are a fan of High Voltage, we suggest ordering XM Satellite
Radio at www.xmradio.com. It offers over 170 digital music and
entertainment channels, available wherever and whenever.
Thanks again for writing and stay tuned to DIRECTV.com for the latest
news and information about our service.

DTV is usually very responsive to it's customers requests, but Wack and FBA will surely piss them off more then help the situation. I've complained about issues before and they've actually made changes and responded to my concerns pretty quickly. They need to take a step back before they burn the bridge for good. I'd love to get the shows back on my dtv as well, but it'll never happen if this continues. They made a bad programming change and if we all pushed back they would respond. Cable companies don't even compare to DTV in terms of customer service.

I understand the Opie & Anthony Show on XM High Voltage is important to you. Based on customer feedback about announcements and talk on our XM radio channels, we have removed the two stations which offered talk programming, High Voltage and MLB Home Plate, and replaced them with Liquid Metal and The Torch, two music stations. It’s never an easy decision to change programming, but we feel that our new music only format is the best way for us to serve the largest number of our customers.

Thanks again for writing.

Sincerely,
Naomi
DIRECTV Customer Service

Stern says that the whole CBS thing is a deperation move, but as we all know it is pure genius. With the tie-in of Direct TV and now the O & A free radio gig, there will be more and more exposure for XM (and especially High Voltage 202). This is something that Howard and the Sirius suits fully know is a brilliant marketing strategy.

Just an obvious thought: However much power he used to have in making
an entire station implode in a blink, Howard is now rich but pretty
obscure. The last great play he had was muscling DLR in for his
replacement. He can talk all he wants now, speak his mind about how
things without him are going to fail, but nobody cares what he thinks
anymore. In reality it is a good move, and without him to pull the
strings it probably will succeed.

It was really smart to get someone in there that hates him and won't go on Howard 100 news.
