SpikeTV is replaying the season premier of The Ultimate Fighter. It's off to a pretty good start.

As much as I loved last season, I like the fact that this year they are making sure veryone fights. This way you won't see anyone make it to the semifinals before they fight for the first time like they had last season.

And the added tension due to the fact that you know Shamrock & Ortiz are seconds away from killing each other at all times only makes it all the more entertaining.

serious question: is this show for real? or is it like wrestling? If its real - how can they take such a beating and not get really hurt. Anyone whose been in a fight before knows that a punch to the face..one single punch landed well, can do some serious damage, at the very least, swelling and disorentation. These guys take blows one after another like nothin.

There once was a show about boxing - like american idol, one fight each week and someone eliminated until one remained. It was hosted by stallone and sugar ray. My question is, how come if every other half assed realilty show has multiple seasons did that one not have another season? i thought it did well in the ratings.

1) UFC is, if I may borrow a quote, "as real as it gets." The reason you don't see UFC fighters suffering serious injury is because of the excellent officiating. Many fights, especially when they result in a ground & pound situation that could very well lead to serious damage, are stopped by the official & the winner is declared before the loser is beaten completely into oblivion.

2) I'm sure season 2 of the Contender (I think that was the name of the Stallone version of the show) can't be too far off. If it made a penny, it'll be back for another try. And I'm sure that show did. They're probably just waiting so sync it up with the release of the next Rocky movie so they can hype the hell out of the movie during every comercial break.

The UFC is flawed, but it's real. There are huge mismatches and judges scoring is always subjective , but I've never seen anything that came off as staged or preordained.
