I am a Knicks fan. Have been for a long time. Recently, I've been talking to a couple Nets fans who say just root for us. HBox even said he feels if a team is Mismanaged as bad as the Knicks are, fans are justified in jumping ship. I wanna root for a real team but it's so hard to leave mine. I never left the sox.

Anyway, you decide. With the current situation with the Knicks, am I justified in switching to the Nets, another local team who I never rooted against, but was never MY team?

Switch if you want to. I've been a Nets fan for years now, and to see them finally be consistant and good is a nice thing.

you gotta stay, that's the essence of being a fan -- it's more the eternal hope as the season begins, and dealing with the crushing disappointment

i was there each year until the 90s ended, and just couldn't identify with the team and the league in general

i try each year to get back in, and i just can't stand the current bunch (marbury is such a waste) -- i hate the dolans, issiah thomas and every jackass decision made in the last ten years

what eternal hope. If the Knicks dont make a move, they are over the cap for 5 years, and they dont have a first round pick for the next 3. There is no hope, thats the problem
i don't believe in switching teams. i gave up on the vikings in 99 after being a die-hard for about 30 years. i didn't pick a new team and just enjoy football for the game itself

there is no jumping ship, reglardless of how bad or mismanged your team is. Your only saving grace is that the nets are a NJ team which is where you live, so its not like you are just bandwagon hoping. I still say you need to stay with the knicks
If a team has been so mismanaged that you cannot even see a point in the forreseeable future where they might be competitive, why stick around? Sports are supposed to be fun, you're supposed to enjoy it. This is certainly a rare situation, but how can you support a frnchise where the owner gives Isiah Thomas a sign of approval after the way he fucked up this team. There's every indication that everything will just get even worse.

Go with the Nets. They are good, and when they move to Brooklyn, they will get rid of that whole filthy New Jersey stigma.

Sorry.

If you decide to stop being a knicks fan, don't choose another team. Just be a fan of basketball.

That and the Nets are one of the lamest franchises in sports.

No way you can ever jump ship. I'm a knick fan... they go 0 - 82 still a knick fan. The only way you can ever change is if your team is contracted.

I root for the Nets and like to see them do well, I go to and watch lot more Net games these days cause they are more exciting (plus tickets are a lot cheeper). However I will always be a knick fan
