I voted for Family Guy right now. However, at its peak the Simpsons was the funniest show on tv, but they've been riding on fumes the last five seasons. South Park has been coming on strong lately, but the jury's still out in my opinion.

At one time The Simpsons was the funniest, most brilliant show on television. I made sure never to miss it. In college in the mid 90's we would have Simpsons viewing parties. Not any more. The writing teams changed over, and they stopped doing what made it work, randomness. So many times nowadays they go for the easy joke, a befuddled comment from Homer, a "shocking" retort from Bart, a clueless jab from Marge. I'm not saying it's predictable, it's just not as challenging as it once was. I barely make an effor to watch it now as it's rather hit or miss. 3 weeks ago, I was impressed and laughed quite a bit. 2 weeks ago with Ricky Gervais was fucking wretched. One of the worst episodes of the recent era. I hate to say it, but I'm not looking forward at all to the movie next year.

Family Guy I wasn't impressed with in the beginning. It wasn't the Simpsons, and I really wanted Futurama to be good. But, it eventually got me and I was disheartened when it went on hiatus, bought the DVDs, was thrilled when the comeback was announced. I still think it's great, but I never really get upset if I miss an episode.

South Park has truly carried a passed torch proudly. I'm very rarely disappointed with an episode, and it almost always elicits the empty mouthed equivalent of a spit take. I make sure not to miss even the repeats. I suppose it helps that they think as I do. Not Liberal or Conservative, but aware that both sides are rife with assholes and hypocrites.

When South Park did their 3rd season, it sucked because they were focused on the movie. Somewhere in the 4th season, almost no one was watching and it gave them room to do less weirdness (alien anal probes and the like) and turned into parody and social commentary.

Simpsons seasons 3 to 10 are one of the best sitcoms in the history of tv.

Family Guy has lame plots but good gags.

I haven't watched any of them in awhile but The Simpsons is still king in my book, followed by Family Guy for it's intelligent yet cruel humor. Lastly is South Park for it's intelligent, yet fucking nasty, crude, dumb humor from time to time. They also throw too many "agendas" in their cartoons sometimes.

I made a conscious decision to stop watching The Simpsons in 2000, and I haven't looked back. It went too long without making me laugh at all.
Family Guy makes me chuckle every once in a while, but not consistently as much as it used to. I'll still make an effort to watch it though.
South Park I forget about watching periodically, but will ALWAYS induce cringe laughter. Out of the three, South Park has consistently and repeatedly made me feel almost as if I was going to lose control of my bodily functions I was laughing so hard. Unfortunately, a lot of the funniest stuff Comedy Central won't even show anymore. Like when Cartman pulled up a lawn chair when Butters's parents were beating him and said: "If I were older, I'd totally start jacking off right now." That might be the single funniest line in all of the three shows history. South Park can certainly miss the mark occasionally though too.

The writers from "Family Guy" remind me of the writers from the National Lampoon Magazine of my youth. Those guys were freaks and the writers for "Family Guy" are living in that tradition. Freedom of speech is about pushing the envelope sometimes and network primetime is the time!

I didn't mind American Dad, is that still on?

The Simpsons are still consistantly the funniest show on TV. Family Guy is funny, but they seem to run out of material and go with the same old gags over and over. Lately I've been counting and theres been at least 7 cuts an episode away into one of those "like that time" or something gay like that, it was funny the first few times, but they hang on them too long, proving they dont even have enough material to do a 22 minute episode.

The Simpsons have dropped off from what they were, but other than like one or two this year, they've been putting out really funny stuff lately making me forget that they struggled for a while. Even Ron and Fez toss out a few jokes that don't work once in a while, so give the Simpsons a break.

I don't really know if South Park really has a problem with Family Guy's writing. I don't think Family Guy was trying to be more than just a bunch of Gag with a loose story line. I had a hard time choosing but went with South Park because of how topical they are. I love the fact that they make fun of themselves with the Terrance and Philip cartoon (A show based on really bad animation in which kids watch a show with worse animation, and then the Terrorists create their own cartoon to blast USA and it's animation is even worse!)

South Park wins for me just because its the best satire you can probably find on TV right now in my opinion

Family guy comes second, I love the gags...even if the setup for the jokes are all the same

I haven't seen an episode of the Simpsons in years...mainly cause im watching other things in that 8pm timeslot, but when i was growing up it was probably the best thing going, as many have pointed out...

It just seems to me at least that the Simpsons is dated in many ways....probably because my taste in comedy has matured since I was a kid, I now really go for a darker kind of comedy, with more "adventurous" humor and I really don't get that from the Simpsons

Its like what Howie was doing in the late 80s and early 90s was really shocking for the time, but now its just old hat, because its not as easy to push boundaries today as it was in that time....everything is much more blurred now
