I know the release was a couple weeks ago (at least the big screen concerts thing) and I know its almost 3:30am and I know I havent posted on this mufucka in a long-ass time, but has anyone else seen this movie?

I'm a huge Beasties fan, but I haven't had the oppurtunity to see them live. That being said, this movie is right up there as one of the best concerts I've ever experienced. I can only imagine how freakin awesome that show would have been for those who actually attended.

Anyone else see this?

I haven't seen it yet - I have a hard time getting around the concept, which was done about 20 years ago for either Bon Jovi or Poison for one of their videos on MTV - they handed out cameras to the crowd in the audience and then pieced it together. It's a great idea, and I imagine was both fun and a head-ache to edit.

Love the band, love the concept...the execution just kinda sucks. The quality is what you should expect from these sort of "filmmakers"...ie: non-existent. It's fun, but it almost hurts to watch. Plus, it's from a recent show that focuses on their latest album, which blows super stinky rhino ass.
I was at the show and it was great. A lot of remixes, but that wasn't bad. The only downside of the film I heard is that it is all these cameras and not one professional cam, and there are rapid edits that keep you off kilter.

There was a lot of real quick cuts and what not to start the show off, but it was done intentionally to kind of make you feel "off kilter". I think its to try to mimic the energy of seeing the first few songs of a live show. Eventually, it slows down to a single shot for the entirety of Root Down. Yeah, it was heavy on To the 5 Boroughs, but this was shot during the tour of the album.

Overall, I thought that the DV cams were a cool touch. Personally, it really made me feel more a part of the audience than your standard concert film. I loved the fucking movie, and i would definitely recommend it. It would be pretty weak to see it alone in a theater, though. So at this point, I would just wait for the DVD.
