They adopted a secret language using Egyptian and assyrian Heryglyphics. If you look on a one dollar bill you will see the Great Seal. There is a pyramid( a occult symbol) and an eye on top. That eye symbolizes the illuminatis ability to infilitrate places and orginizations. After a while they were driven out by the Jesuits and were forced to merge with the honorable Free-Masons. They became entwined. Now because they wanted to show truth(light) and what is the term to gain knowlege? Elumination. In Milton's (A Illuminati) Paradise Lost the devil is called Lucifer(Bringer of light). The Illuminati thought themselves to be Enlightened and the Latin past passive particble of to bring light(Lucifer is a latin derivative of One who brings light)which comes out to be Illuminati. Now beacuse they were associated with the Devil,Lucifer,Beezelbum,whatever their practices came to be called Satanic. Hence the name Satanic Cults. The illuminati are opposed to the Catholic Church, catholics, and religion in general.

Dan Brown's, "Angels and Demons" is an excellent read. It can best be described as a near future science fiction novel, based entirely on actual hisorical events.

Another good book on subject is Focaults Pendulum by Umberto Eco. Also check out Robert Anton Wilsons stuff if you want some way out there freaky stuff.

I actually read a book in college about the Masons. It was " supposedly " written by a former member and he detailed all of their rituals and the like. One disturbing thing I came away with ( true or not, after all it could've been a pro-Catholic trying to slander ) was them putting somebody in a bird-cage type of things and similating peeing on them with some type of instrument. Wacky shit.
According to the Catholic church, you can't be a Catholic in " good standing " if you are a Mason.
