I'm getting a tattoo; I need some advice [Archive]

I don't have any parlors to recommend, sorry.My only and best advice is MAKE SURE IT'S A TATTOO THAT MEANS SOMETHING TO YOU!You're gonna have it forever, and that old excuse people us that "You can have it lazered off" is shit because it's expensive.  You'll just end up living with it.I would suggest NOT getting your girl's/wife's name because nothing is forever.  Stuff about your kids is good because they'll always be your kid.  Deceased friends and relatives are a nice way to honor them.  Just make sure it's not another trendy tribal tattoo that you're gonna just think is "ok" a few years later.  I have one tattoo.  It says NJDM around an X on my right arm and that's it.  Nothing else in my life has moved me enough to get another tattoo.Just be careful.

depends on what you get. i highly recommend <a href="http://www.darkimages.com/">www.darkimages.com</a> request paul booth. everyone copies his style. you may wait a few months to get a sitting but well worth it. the plus side is you can change your mind in that time.

i knew someone who worked @ seens shop a bunch of years ago.its expensive but you get what you pay for. ive gon to kevin @ fatcat in astoria a few times he's done great work, for good prices and hes a hell of a guy. theres a lot of assholes working at tattoo shops. go there talk with them, check out their work,  tell them your idea, get feedback, look around make sure its clean, see what kind of clients they have, what the other people who work at the shop look like. is it a shop run like a business or a hang out? those are just some things.most important like you need to be told.. lol make sure it means something but also! the coloring is right for you, that its going to age well and that it is in a spot thats going to age well.  like tattoos on  a girls back,stomach, or tit.  bad idea if she gets pregnant. also the spot for work purposes as well. i have them on my wrist and forearm, thus dooming myself to life at work in long sleeves forever.theres also a guy in the city named anil gupta i think his site is www.anilgupta.com check it out, he does some FUCKING CRAZY WORK.

going to get a black and white tattoo on my left shoulder. That way
it's in a place that can be easily concealed at my office, and it will
have a longer life due to the absence of color. And yes the
tattoo will mean something to me. Its actually something Ive been
thinking about for almost a year now and reflects an idea and mantra
that Ive made my motto for life for years now.  Now,
another question: How much would a custom black & white tattoo of
moderate size, located on the shoulder usually gonna cost? And yes I do
want a fair ammount of effort put into it as the capture my idea. I
even have a picture of what I want it to look like. Any
estimations?

Here's an idea for a tatoo. A tatoo of a guy giving you a tatoo, and then a mirror where the image keeps getting smaller from the reflections. I always loved those mirror reflection things. Love to see how small he could get it.

ok, i got tatted yesterday. bern from tattooseen did it. great job.
i enjoyed the pain until he hurt bone and used the shader. but i blew
some air out, and took my pain like a man. it came out really good and

I got my first tattoo at Andromeda's in the city on St. Marks Place.  I paid more $$ but it was VERY clean.  I also got my nose pierced there.  I know a bunch of people who have had piercings/tats done there and everyone is always very happy with it.

it'll stretch and possibly lose some color due to the stetching, very repairable. just don't do steroids and get freakishly big then that may be a problem...my wife has a tattoo around her belly button that got freakishly large when she was pregnant but it snapped back once she dropped the baby.

Ok, it was scabbing this morning. I thought it was dirt when I was in
the shower but I still refrained from rubbing it. I got out and applied
a layer of ointment. About 20 minutes ago when I was putting on another
layer, it looked like some lines on it were missing. WTF! I didnt pick
the scabs as I was told. While putting on the ointment, some small
black particles that appeard to be either dirt or dead skin came off on
my finger and I kept trying to apply it gently without doing any
damage. FUCKING A! What should I do?

youll need a touch up. i got mine in feb, and it was all black, and some of it scabbed off. just happens. its not exactly science.     chill out let it heal, if youre worried, contact the shop, but theyre gonna tell you what you've already read here. also you're only supposed to use a&d for about 3 days, then switch to a good unscented lotion until it heals.

In my opinion, tattoos are a joke, and the more absurd they are, the better. Mind you, this is coming from a guy that has the nWo logo, a crayon drawing of a butterfly and heart by my 4 year old sister & Jesus turning into Superman amongst his 15 store bought tattoos (I don't count the 10 India Ink jobs that include such jems as "Dhalism from Street Fighter" and "The Charlie Brown Christmas Tree"). The only thing you shouldn't do is get something that'll screw up your chances of holding a job in the future (below the wrists or above the neck).Enjoy youself. I think you should get a rabbit with a black eye wearing a wifebeater with a piece of fried chicken in his hand (with a "tribal" pile of buttermilk biscuits in the background, of course), but that's just me.

Go to Big joe's in mamaroneck. Adam Is the best tatoo artist ever. If you got a car it is worth it. If you don't have a car get a friend to drive you. You have to remember a tattoo is forever so don't skimp and don't short yourself. do it right.

Do I come off as not chilled out?It's all good. I'm not at all angry. On the contrary, I'm saying life is all a big joke, and we should all have fun and draw pictures on ourselves if we so choose. Don't get bent because I paraphrased your "life's too short" bit. I just couldn't pass it up.
