Uncle Mingo

<p>Here's an obscure reference, but if there are any R&amp;F fans in the Savannah/Hilton Head/Charleston area (and I'm sure there are), you may have heard of these guys.</p><p>The band's name is &quot;Uncle Mingo&quot;. They were local to the areas mentioned above, and apparently never made it much bigger than that. They had two or three albums and seem to have dropped off the face of the earth.</p><p>I caught them in a local club in Hilton Head back in the mid 90's. I didn't expect much. My girlfriend, her firend, and I were just looking for a place to hang out on a Friday night and ventured in. This band comes on and just blows the doors off the place. Lots and lots of talent and&nbsp;energy. </p><p>Darius Rucker of Hootie and the Blowfish was in attendance. Got up on stage and displayed his prowress with a hula hoop, which apparently was a staple of their show.</p><p>Best version of Movin' On Up (the Jeffersons Theme) ever.</p><p>Anyway, just wondering if anyone else knew these guys.</p>
