Wow... just, wow. Some of the deaths on there are just so needless and stupid... like the 23-year-old who bled to death because she wouldn't call an ambulance during childbirth.

It's unbelievable how many of these kids were killed in auto accidents. My kid gets his license in less than a year. I'm not looking forward to it. I already won't let him ride with most of his friends. They drive like lunatics.

My nephew, whos 17, had an accident yesterday pulling out of their driveway, because he couldnt see because a van was parked near the edge of their driveway, so he pulled out anyway. This is his 4th accident and the last two also totaled the cars! One of them he ended up crashing into the front of someones house! I swear, kids today think they are in a video game. I always assume Im about to either get T boned of rear ended at a light by a high school kid whos playing with a dvd player, Ipod, sending a text message, or whatever..

The people on that site that died (not all teens) reflect the ways people die every day. Most of the teen deaths were automobile, drug, or alcohol related (just like the teens who aren't on Myspace). The soldiers they showed mostly died in a combat situation or an accident while deployed, and the the inner-city people mostly died from violence.

It's just a reflection of how life actually is.

I'm confused as to what these deaths have to do with MySpace.

I'm really not sure of the point of this - just seems like a cheap way to gawk at other people's misfortunes, and not really terribly clever. Where were they before myspace made it so easy to gather up the crumbs of these kids' lives? You know there must be thousands of personal webpages out there done up by people who don't live anymore. If this was so damn important to get out there, they would have taken the time to do research on those.

Maybe if it was to highlight teen suicide, and the signs leading up to it, or even to laugh at dumb things people do, or be horrified at the behavior of kids' reactions to this (some of the comments left on the suicide ones are really disgusting), but most are just random accidents. If anything, an argument could be made that this will illustrate to kids the fragility of life and (regardless of what they think) they won't live forever - but that's incredibly pointless, as most kids do know that already but most kids don't have the kind of perspective to know what to live a long life really means.

Just another layer of the foolishness of myspace = lesson I learned.

Make sure someone else knows how to access my myspace account and delete it when i die = another lesson I learned.

I sat here for 1 hour and 45 minutes going through the entire site. Then viewing the diferent profiles. The kid that sent a bulletin before he offed himself really freaked me out.

I got to admit that the site is in my favorites and I'll be checking it at least once a month.

Maaaaaaaaaan, I posted about this already! Fuckin' biters...

I prefer the LiveJournal version of the site. The new one seems inundated with really ignorant dickheads making comments, laying it on thick with REALLY vile racist shit. The old site had nasty comments, sure, but more in that "oooh, I'm slapping karma on the ass" kinda way.

This was a huge story around here. She was a 19 year old student at Virginia Commonwealth Uninversity, and he was a 38 year old photographer that lived in the Fan District (the area where the school is). I used to live there. The area is full of "artsy types".

He was pretty creepy guy, but he's the kind of guy who fresh young teens (away from home for the first time) fall for very easily. I knew a lot of people like that there. As for the "rough sex"... he said they were into autoerotic asphyxiation and she suffocated. The police almost seamed to be reluctant to charge him with murder at first, but they have since charged him. Also... during the initial investigation, they searched his apartment and found child pornography on at least one comp and several drives and discs. That's how they origionally arrested him. He was later charged with Taylor's murder while being held on the porn charges. The whole thing was very messed up.

By the way... If I'm not mistaken, most of the pics on her Myspace page were taken by the guy who killed her.

VCU itself is a rather cool "artsy-fartsy" school, but it's in a pretty skeevy part of Richmond filled with lots of skeevy people.

Didn't DC Reed end up going to school down there? I hope he's doing alright.

It is a cool school. I liked living there, but that was back in the late 1980's. I don't know what it's like now.
