Which came first for Cobra Commander, the metal dome mask or the shrowd rag?

I would think the shrowd mask was better because he could probably breath better in it.

I remember the dome mask 1st. I could be wrong. Maybe I just remember that one because he had it on the most of any mask in the cartoon.

There also might be comic books that have the real way he's supposed to look? No idea.

The shroud was like his hanging around mask. While the helmet was what he donned in battle. The shroud came first in the comic book

It was definatley the helmet. It came first in the comic the toys and the comic. In fact the mask was a special promo on the toy that you could not get in stores. IT was so popular it came in the comic and other stuff.

He must have had more confidence in his personal safety if he went from a hard helmet/faceplate to a rag.

dome then shroud...but prior to dome I swear I saw his eyes through a faceplate mask in an episode or 2 (ie a paintball mask)

quick true cobra commander action figure story:

In first grade, a friend of mine boubht a cobra commander with the silver mask. he thought that there was a face beneath the mask. so he got a coin and started to scratch off the silver mask. he kept on scratching and didn't find a face, but he thought that he went too far. so he bought a second one and did the same to the next cobra commander.

Umm I think I am too old for this conversation. My GI Joes were what 12" tall and had beards with actual "Hair". I remember specifically though, that there was a bad guy resembling Cobra Commander that had a covered face, Asian eyes, (Vietnam War Era) and was a major baddie...of course they also had a "JOE" with Bionics, and a "JOE" that had a bullett shaped head and slid down a wire

Destro later started his own thing and
became the leader of it. i thought that was a pretty cool idea,
to have 2 different bad guy organizations. his soldiers were
called "Iron Grenaders". thats a cool name.

if your into GI Joe check out this mini series that Dreamwave put
out before they went under called "Transformers/GI Joe ". what
made it soo cool was it tookplace during WWII. all the
Transformers turned into WWII military vehicles and Cobra had this very
Nazi like feel to it. it was really dark an great. Jae Lee
did the art.

the story with the crimson guard was they
were like sleeper cells. they held down normal jobs until they
got the call from cobra to do something. in the comic they had a
story arc where lots of them got plastic surgery to look exactly the
same. they were the "Fred" series of CGs. one of them
killed Cobra Commander and pretended to be him. that went on for
a while and the comic started to tank so they pulled some dumb " i
wasen't really dead!!! " bullshit like from a soap opera.

Cobra Commander and Star Scream were the same guy doing the

like that. probably a heavy smoker. he has passed away

the comic ran 155 issues and ended in 1994. The cartoon stopped showing first run episodes before that I believe. The cartoon ran on channel 11 in New York at 4:30 I think.

great GI joe archive

http://www.yojoe.com/

Silver mask then hood then silver battle armor, anything after that is mainly variations of the silver mask.

The animation for the cartoon was Sunbow for most of the run, and the final season (maybe 2) were done by Dik. GI Joe has always been owned by Hasbro, so the property was always american owned, but the animation was likely done overseas.
