I bought the book for this diet, anyone on it? If so, how are you progressing with it?

Shell,

My girlfriend and I are on it. We just made it through the first 9 days cleansing/detox. It was rough but we did. I lost 7 LBS and she went down 8LBS. Keep in mind that was with min. excerise, since we both work long hours.

You are not on are you? I only ask because you look think in your pics on myspace.

I'm not on it at the moment -- no stove in my lil dorm room and I'm getting too distracted with classes. I duno, I don't think I'm thin; I wouldn't mind losing a lil bit but I'm more concerned about getting healthy -- my energy level sucks ass right now.
Don Stugots

I see what you mean. the diet is good. it really is teaching me how and what to eat. I do need to excerise more but with the long hours that I put in (7am-?) 6 days a week there isnt much time to.

i recommend incorporating elements of the superfoods diet into any get healthy plan, it's a book all about the 10 or so healthiest foods and a lot of them are things you can just snack on (blueberries, walnuts, etc)
Unfortunately, I still haven't started this diet, and I wish I could. I have no good excuse for it either. I'm just kinda afriad about the whole detox phase considering how much time I predict will be spent on the toilet.
OK YOU TWO LISTEN UP. GET STARTED ON THE FUCKING DIET. START ON SUNDAY MORNING AS SOON AS YOU WAKE UP. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? YOU WANT TO WEIGHT 265 POUNDS LIKE I DID? YOU WANT TO BE SO BLOATED THAT YOU GET WINDED JUST WATCHING CELEBRITY FIT CLUB? YOU WANT TO WALK AROUND LIKE VITO? DO YOU WANT TO HAVE TO GO BUY A LARGER SET OF CLOTHES? YOU WANT TO FEEL LIKE CRAP?

do this for yourself. i have not felt so good in my life. i can walk the dog for a few miles at a time rather than half a mile. i am the same size pants as i was in high school. my muscles have never felt stronger. i know i need to lose another 20-25 pounds but i know that even if i dont i am eating healthy and taking better care of myself.

we can all supprt each other in this.

dude i am in. i am going back on detox Sunday morning. which kind of sux since i have the yankee game next sunday. but i can do. lets all weigh ourselves every on monday mornings?

fluffernutter

About 2 1/2 months ago, I weighed in at 260 or so and began a
greuling 5 weeks of work away from home with a lot of travel
incorporated within. I really didnt think anything of it but when I got
home after the trip I was down to 245. I didn't even conciously eat
well but tried a little bit, still not following the diet. The next two
weeks after was filled witht he flu and bronchitis which I maintained
my 245 throughout while still working 40 hour weeks and eating somewhat
normal. 2 weeks ago, I started the Fat Smash because I am quite a fat
ass and have just been sick of my physical appearance.

The 9
Days of Detox was a pain in the ass but I lost 10 lbs in that time
frame. My breakfast consisted of 2 6 oz Dannon Light N Fit yougurts and
a small cup of grapes and pineapple. I had some dry ceral for a snack
or some fruit for my morning and afternoon snack and lunch would be
some refried beans or some salad. Lots of veggies were GREAT. Dinner
would be some Lentil Soup or some beans and yes, more veggies. The poop
just pretty much turned to a light to dark green and wasn't runny or
anything. Very solid. I got excited on the bowl and would just look at
what colour it was. Odd I know but it made it fun for me. I was
surprised I got through the 9 days but I'm down to 235 and have gotten
comments that I look "thinner". Lies probabl but oh well.

The
second Phase has been a bit harder because I find myself more hungry
but am incorporating chicken int othe diet and some seafood stuff here
and there as well. I lost it last night when I had half a sleeve of
Ritz with some jelly. yeah, I fucked up but didn't gain. All I need to
do now is get ecercising and get myself looking somewhat respectable.
Too bad the diet can't fix the awful gap in my teeth. I'll have to get
braces for that.

Overall I recommend the diet. Just be patient with it and try
like hell to excercise. I wonder what results I have had if I would
have excercised.

i always check the color of my poop now. that is how i can tell if i am losing anything if i cant see it on the scale. Dont worry about cheating. i do it too once in a while.

as for giving up the beer in the summer time. limit the beer drinking to just saturday. limit the amount that you have. I have to figure out how i am going to a yankee game while i detox once again.

Moe i totally agree. but, i hate having to wear a size 40 jeans and have them be tight on me. i like to have my arms look muscular rather than fat. i like the way i feel when my chick looks at me now more than ever. now i know i will never be 175 pounds, i shouldnt go down to less that 220. Will i starve myself, no. will i still eat a hot dog at the yanks game? sure, i am not going to suffer. but i will eat one rather than 3. plus. i plan of being on this earth for as long as possilbe or feel good and be healthy for the short time i am here.

but if you feel you dont have to lose weight or eat healthy, god bless you. i have a friend we call BUNDY. he is over 450 pounds he loves life and he loves himself. he gets just about any hot chick he wants. he lived with 2 strippers that worshipped him. will he diet? no. he is fine the way he is. good for him.

My weight has been fairly stable over the last 15 years at around 220, but is starting to edge up and I want to nip it in the bud.

When I go out to play with my kids, I get winded easily, I can't move as easily as I would like. moe believe me i never suffer too much when it comes to food. i am sure i will be having some beer and/or ice cream before the day is over. i am firm believer of living life while there is a life left to live. so no matter what is happening with my diet i take saturday or sunday as a free day. i eat whatever i want. not too much, in moderation but i have a taste. thanks for the good word.

People put themselves through hell then quit and return to a livable way of life.

I
think the whole reason the Fat Smash Diet does and can work is because
it teaches you how to eat and be able to enjoy the junk food here and
there every now and again and still be happy. The main reason I
started this is because not only is it the first diet plan I have come
across and that makes sense but I just got so disgusted with how fat I
looked and I needed to do something about it. I want to see my little
girl grow up and I want to grow old with my wife. It is just a matter
of being healthy and taking the right measures to do it. I can keep
doing what I can to help myself live to grow old and have a healthier
lifestyle. I just have to deal with what I have been given as far as
everything from the neck up. :)

Thanks for the recipes mob county.

I started the year this year at 267, got in a weightloss competition with my wifes family for new years resolutions. This was based on percentage of weight lost from original weigh in. $75 to enter, winner takes all, 10 people entered

I followed a diet of my own creation using knowledge I have gained from years of reading and stuff I learned in college that was very similar to fatsmash in many ways (eating every 3-4 hours, small portions, low amounts of meats and cheeses, lots of vegetables, etc...)

I had no phases on my diet and did not cheat once from January 2nd through April 4. I weighed in at 217 for a total loss of 50ish pounds. I went from a 42ish inch waist to a 36ish inch waist.

I won $750 (minus my $75 entry fee, Minus my wifes $75 minus $75 spent on ECA stacks similar to the old school hydroxycut, stacker, or xenadrine.)

After the competition I went back to eating similar to the way I did before the competition for a month (4/4-5/4) and gained about 6 pounds back. I account at least half of that weight to just having 2 to 3 pounds of food layong in my gut not actual body weight.

I started detox on 5/4 and completed it without cheating or even anything that was questionable. I lost 10 pounds which surprised me since I had just come off of a very strict diet recently and stopped taking the metabolism boosters.

I found the diet easy to follow compared to the nazi diet I had myself on before. My wife recently finished a goal based weight loss competition at work (and met her goal) and decided to take the week off dieting as a reward since we are on vacation. She was impressed with my weight loss on my diet prior to fatsmash but refused to do a diet that strict. She read my fatsmash book and is excited about trying it with me starting on the 29th. I am going to go through detox with her again on the 29th so I am eating at around a stage 3 right now while waiting to redo detox again.

The hardest part for me on fatsmash is beverages, I know its wrong but up until the day I started fatsmash I was dringing 6-10 diet sodas a day and probably an average of 2 cups of coffee a day.

I like the ideas in the book but I may be reading parts of it wrong. I found some of the recipes in the back contradicting the "DON'T" foods listed in stage 1. I dont have the book in front of me but I think that Orange juice, cheese and oil are used in the recipes but not allowed in the lists.

Also the Body Mass chart also has to be off or made for wispy people. I thought my target range looked a little low so I asked my best friend and sons godfather his height and weight since he is in about the best shape of anyone I know and doesn't lift weights to bulk up at all and has a "mens health cover model" build. according to the chart he is overweight and on his way to obese(I can post a pic, height, and weight if anybody cares or thinks the chart is accurate). I think this could be frustrating if someone reading the book didn't have anything to compare the chart to.

Overall I think that the diet works and will be doing it but I just think some of the info could or should have been presented a little differently.

I would like to hear others opinions on the book and results.

Thanks in advance.

Snapdemon

I saw the BMI chart as a little "off" myself, but I think its a decent guideline as to what weight would be best for your height ((but it doesn't take into account your frame)).

I'm attempting to start the diet today, but its rather difficult since I have no cash to buy the foods I need... so I'm just making the best out of what we already have around the house ((thank god for the stock pile of oatmeal))

Mob, keep it up. i am right here for encourgement if you need it. PM me if need be.

I took the pics of myself in my bathing suite that was too tight around my junk. i put it on again last night and compared the pics. i look better. not great, but i see a big improvement in my body.

here is an easy dinner for anyone that is short on time.

Uncle Bens brown rice in a microwavable bag. take 90 seconds to make. Get a can of lentil soup and bring to a ligth bowl, mix it all up and enjoy. I just had it for dinner and it was good. for more flavor add peas and carrots or some corn.

I actually found a dinner I really love:
2 cups brown rice boiled in low sodium chicken broth
2 egg whites mashed up
1/2 cup of black beans or red beans
1 mighty muffin smashed up (which consists of 90% lean ground beef, 2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar, 1/2 cup of oats cooked in a muffin pan)

The chicken broth idea and the mighty muffin mix comes from another book called the "Abs Diet." It's great for Phase II and easy to cook! If you get rid of the meat part, it's the perfect dinner for Phase I (I ate it religiously and still do!)

I got the book and gave it a try last week. Day 1 was great, ate the chilli yogurt, carrots etc. Day 2 was ok, had more chilli, banana, yogurt strawberries, carrots etc. Day 3 I did brown rice, grilled tofu, yogurt strawberries etc but I felt extremely weak, headaches that asprin/advil wouldn't help and my stomach was in constant pain. I bailed... this was on last friday.

Since then I've looked through some more of the book and taken the whole small portions thing to heart and done some more home cooking instead of always eating out on my lunch break. I've dropped 5 pounds in the past week and I feel good.

I don't want to discourage anyone but if its physically hurting you its ok to stop. It was effecting me so much that I was having trouble doing my job and I don't do too much during the worknight. I'm gonna continue along with my new eating habbits and wish everyone the best of luck. Its a good book and even if you end up not doing the detox, the other phases have some good tips/recipes and its definetely worth the $9 or $10 for it.

Oh the stomach pains are usually the indication to make the mad dash into the bathroom. I found in Phase II taking much too much advantage of the fact that I could have Cheerios, since I was having awful cravings for something that was crunchy and not a fruit or a carrot. I finished off my box of cheerios and decided I am going to have to portion my next box I buy this weekend into little ziplock baggies so I don't go overboard again. Oh the self-control is being tested!

It doesn't help when my boyfriend decides to eat tons of shitfood every night since I stopped cooking for him when I started the diet. I learned VERY quickly to make him a bunch of meals on Sunday, so that he can eat dinner every night and not torture me with CHOCOLATE.

It was opened in Jan., 1521, by Holy Roman Emperor Charles V . After disposing of other business, notably the question of the Reichsregiment , the diet took up the question of the recalcitrant behavior of Martin Luther . Charles was induced to summon Luther, who arrived at Worms under a safe-conduct on Apr. 16. At the diet Luther was asked if he would retract his teachings condemned by the pope. After a day's meditation he refused. For a week various theologians argued with him, but he would not retire from his ground. According to tradition Luther ended his defense on Apr. 18 with the words, "Here I stand. I cannot do otherwise. God help me. Amen." Finally, on Apr. 26, the emperor, seeing that the dispute was fruitless, ordered Luther to leave the city. He was formally declared an outlaw in the Edict of Worms (May 25); the lines of the Reformation were thereby hardened.

I never ever use the recipes. I have no time to cook using all of these spices and cutting up of veggies etc. during the weekdays. I stick to my boil in the bag microwave brown rice, lots of veggies I can just heat up, and a meat of some sort. I usually try to cook my meats on the weekend and save them for the week since that is the most time consuming part. For breakfast it's 1 packet of microwavable plain oatmeal. Lunch is usually 3 clams I can heat up in six minutes or a bag of cheerios with yogurt.

So if you are into cooking, then we can give you the recipes, but if you are into fast on the go stuff, stick with the basics.

I'm starting this tomorrow. I've gained 20lbs in the past 3 years and want it gone. I'm not a giant fatass or anything, but I'd like to be lean again. Headed out to the store to buy some boring brown rice right now.

I've heard a lot of men losing like, 9 lbs the first week, but what about women??? Seems women lose at a slower pace.

Well, 9 days later here I am. 7 pounds lighter, and the worse for wear.

I can't say that I followed the fat smash diet to a tee. I drank some coffee, and to get rid of one of the major headaches, I indulged myself with a peanut butter sandwich. I think I did pretty good with the exercise since it is a 30 minute walk (round trip) to the grocery store salad bar for my lunch at work every day. If the weather hadn't been so good I don't know what I would have done.

I didn't have any problem with breakfasts. Oatmeal with mashed banana has always been a favorite of mine. The only difference now is that I am not using the quick oats.

Brown rice went well with MobCouty's chili and the lentil soup my wife made.

A couple veggie burgers (ok with a little horseradish on them) some soy hot dogs (like chewing an inner tube) got me through a couple more meals along with more salad

I can honestly say I didn't crave meat at all. My wife made some pasta with red sauce and I almost died denying myself a taste, but I survived.

The one thing that I feel that I did learn is that I have always looked at eating as a form of entertainment. I would day dream about meals before, and think about them long after I left the table.

Today, the first day of phase 2 for me I had a grilled hamburger and it tasted quite good. I took a look at the book again and I have to admit that the thought of another month or two of various phases doesn't thrill me, but I know I can stay fairly close. Like I said when I started, I am not going to drive myself crazy. I pretty much always knew which things I was eating before that were wrong. Chips, candy, ice cream, pizza, big subs (or hoagies or wedges or what ever you want to call them).

I know there will be some slips for me in the next couple of phases but thats ok. I'm heading in the right direction.

It's like it wasnt friday night unless we were out having dinner. Its amazing how much time and money goes into food obsessing.

So far the diet has been going well, its 21 days and I've lost 16-17 lbs. Its been pretty painless. We did agreed to modify the diet though, on trips or vacation weekends, we allow ourselves a glass of wine or a beer or two.

I lasted 2 days with that and, as a lot of people mentioned...headaches, man... So that I will work on cuttin back on at some other time...

It's day 23 for us now, and not so cranky anymore... so not throwin around as many threats.... definitely feeling a lot better in general, more energy. I feel like the overall bad habits are in check too, so far as I don't want to overeat; I feel gross if I do... I guess I'm just used to it now...not many insane cravings either. It's definitely an odd thing that I find myself looking forward to some brown rice with dinner as I can completely relate to what richg0404 and MobCountry were sayin here- about eating for entertainment, etc. I know for me that it's always been, entertainment, comfort, as a reward type o thing...feed the emotions too... on and on... Definitely feelin different about it all.

Lately if I do get hit with a hankerin for something like a nice slice of pizza or something, (besides the fact I gotta travel over hell's half acre around her to find one down here in VA).... I seem to be able to squash my pizza tooth by reminding myself that in a few more weeks all that will be incorporated back, that 2 slices twice a week sounds like the best deal to me right now.... Wait, so maybe I am still daydreaming about food...hmm... Yeah I guess so. Anyway, that seems to be kinda motivating to me in a way, that eventually my favorite grub will be allowed again, ya know in sensible doses... That's one of the things about this diet that I like the idea that nothing is banished from your pie hole forever...

Just checking in on the fellow smashers.

I'm down 25lbs in 7 weeks. We have been pretty faithful to the program. We only slip on two points, eating at the right times of day, and booze. We had about 4 weekends of drinking.

I'm pretty happy with the results sofar, and plan on keeping it up as long as possible.

Good idea to bump this up.

It's been about 6 weeks for me and I am down about 15 pounds, about half of that was during phase 1. I was very faithful to the diet through the first 2 phases, but since them I have to say I haven't been so good. I haven't totally fallen off the wagon, I have just had some slips once in a while at parties and cook-outs.

I know that my eating habits have definitely changed for the better. I no longer eat junk, I no longer eat when I am not hungry, I no longer dream about food like I did before I started.

Looking back at my earlier posts in this thread, I can say that I am where I wanted to be. I am feeling better, my clothes fit better, and I have more energy. And I don't feel that I am missing anything I really want to eat.
