Try Mac and Jack. Substitute Monterey Jack cheese for the American cheese. Nice.
Whats better, mac and cheese, or fettuchini alfredo?

It's one of the few foods that I prefer the processed powdered stuff over homemade. And now that Kraft has microwaveble single packs, I eat it even more (Though it's tough if all three of us are eating. Trying to do 3 single packs at once can be tricky).

I loooove mac and cheese. The best i have tasted is made fresh at the takeout area of Fairway supermarket at Broadway and 75th street. Those bastids charge 5 dollars a pound for it, so a nice tin of the stuff cost me around 8 bucks.

I fuckin' love Mac and Cheese. If you're not into making the regular Kraft blue box kind, go for the Weight Watchers Smart Ones frozen kind. Cooks up a bit faster and it tastes amazing ((especially for a "diet" frozen dinner)). I also love Velveeta shells and cheese... haven't had that in years though...

I'm glad my diet doesn't start til May... I can enjoy this before getting back on track.

my mom used to fancy up the mac & cheese. she'd make homemade mac & cheese (or kraft) and then either add cut up hot dogs to it and bake it with some extra cheesy goodness. or, she'd add some ground beef, tomatoes & onions. good stuff.

I can pretty much live on this stuff. Whenever I'm home alone and need to prepare a meal just for myself I'll usually fall back on it. Six minutes to heaven. Don't knock it till you try it. I like to slightly overcook it, so that the top and sides get a golden brown and maybe even a little crunchy.

I made Alton Brown's recipe (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/baked-macaroni-and-cheese-recipe/index.html) a few weeks back, but I tweaked it by using smoked gouda instead of cheddar, and by throwing in some pancetta. Really delicious.

Where I live mac and cheese is a common side dish and sometimes it is listed on the "side vegetables" menu, no shit.

Every now and then some place will have real mac and cheese with a good cheese sauce baked with the mac.

I make my own though and I prefer rigatoni over traditional elbow and as Tenbatsuzen stated above I like the breadcrumbs browned on the top.

Some of the best mac & cheese I've had, my pop made.

Mrs. McNabb's Macaroni & Cheese

1 box (2 pounds) elbow macaroni
1 block Swiss cheese (8 to 12 ounces)
1 block cheddar cheese (8 to 12 ounces)
2 bags shredded cheese (either taco or pizza style)
2 cups milk
4 eggs
1 stick butter, cut into pats

1 deep-sided, 9-by-13-inch aluminum casserole pan

Boil the macaroni for 5 to 10 minutes. Remove from the stove when al dente, then allow the pasta to sit in the warm water for another 10 minutes. It will continue to cook and soften.
Drain pasta. Place a layer of pasta on the bottom of the aluminum pan and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Put about half the chunks of cheddar and Swiss cheese on the macaroni , then add a bag of shredded cheese . Repeat the layering process with more pasta, the rest of the chunk cheese and the second bag of shredded cheese. The layers should fill three-quarters of the pan.
In a bowl, whisk two eggs, then add a cup of milk. Pour this mixture over the top of the macaroni and cheese layers. The liquid should be visible but not overflowing.
Mix the remaining two eggs and add another cup of milk. Add slowly to the casserole until the liquid is visible above the pasta layers.
Cut the sticks of butter into tablespoon-sized pats and place "strategically" around the top of the casserole.
Bake in a 400-degree oven for approximately 20 minutes, or until butter and egg are golden brown. If it still looks milky or liquid on top, bake for a few more minutes.
