Wow, that's awful...I've seen a few stories in the last year or so about kids killing themselves by jumping or standing in front of trains, or people getting killed like this because they can't hear the trains (often because of iPods)...apparently death by train is the freak death du jour.I know we've all grown up being warned not to be around train tracks, but am I missing something in the "physics" of trains?  I've been near them or stupidly on tracks when they're coming down the line...and every time I have "felt" them WAY before they were anywhere near hitting me, or even sometimes hearing them.  If you're near a bend, do you not feel the train approaching?And man, not to be crass, but if I was deaf, I'd never go near a goddamn train track.

as an addition to an already horrible disturbing story, they have learned today that when she was struck by the train she was actually sending text messages on her cell phone to both her also hearing impaired parents.  she was walking a foot away from the tracks, but a 16 inch wide snow cleaner I believe caught her.a deaf girl and family with a cell phone?...what plan did they have the family impaired planTexas?  was Dick Cheney driving that train?high on cocaine?the reports are true than,they are dangerous, if only she wasnt using her MP3 playerthat poor bastard must have a sore throat by now if he called her and stated asking...Can you hear me now?i cant beat that....sorry
