My 15 year old has been sick since Monday morning. He was doing better all day today, so I figured he'd be fine in the morning. He called me at work around 9:30 tonight, to tell me he's feeling MUCH worse, with a lot of pain in the back of the head and neck.

Uh, oh... Meningitis scare.

We got to the emergency room at 10PM. We were finally able to leave at 2:15AM with a diagnosis of type A flu. Don't get me wrong. I'm relieved he's going to be OK (though he's missing a whole week of school), damn... Two hours in the waiting room, and 2.25 in the exam room! At least there was a TV to keep us semi occupied. Craig Ferguson sucks.

400 dollars for 4 pills and a shot. I was in that same ER a few weeks ago after someone poisoned my chinese food. My entire face went numb and my throat closed up while my eyes and tung puffed out of my head. I looked like Rocky Balboa.
but they were great - they shot me up - I passed out - woke up and went home.

Glad your sons ok buddy. Compared to Fairfax Hospital dude, Winc Med is fucking great. If this was Fairfax, you would still be there probably.

I just dont see how 4 pills and a shot = 400 dollars.

I will admit that the doctor was wise enough to write prescriptions for my son and me. He figured I'd need Tami flu, like my son does... so I don't get the flu, also. I asked him if my father needed Tami flu (as he's at high risk... being in his late 70's). I told him that my father had had a flu shot. The doc said Tami flu doesn't really help people that age.

I've had bad ER experiences with doctors in the past, but this doc was very helpful. I just wish they'd get the administration thing worked out. He said they have 20 ER docs on staff, but they need about 10 more.
