<p>Not an official thread. </p><p>We all have a lot of pics that we've taken, and I figure we'd all want to share them, comment on them, what have you.</p><p>So here's a thread to post stuff.</p><p>As a general rule: If you're posting pictures of people, I wouldn't post pics of people that aren't board members and/or aren't cool with you putting their pics up on the the internet.</p><p>If you're in a picture and don't want to be up on the thread, PM the person who posted it and something can be worked out. </p><p><a target="_blank" href="http://img24.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc24&image=32040_IMG_0466.JPG"><img border="0" src="http://img24.imagevenue.com/loc24/th_32040_IMG_0466.JPG" /></a></p><p>A nice picture of some board members that I don't think I've ever posted up. Besides, I'm getting tired of ADF using the same damn picture that I took of him many moons ago, so here's something new. </p><p><a target="_blank" href="http://img144.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc24&image=32044_IMG_1069.JPG"><img border="0" src="http://img144.imagevenue.com/loc24/th_32044_IMG_1069.JPG" /></a></p><p>An old four-screen theatre near Ocean City, NJ. <p>Wow, I didn't realize how many people were in that pic of ADF and Randi. Looking at it again, I see Baby Anna, Tazz, Doogie, James Diggy, Erole, and one more who I can ID by personal info (Digger Phelps) but just totally blanked on his screen name.</p><p> </p><p> </p>

And isn't that Leo? Dunno his board name.
Also, is that possibly Sweet Melissa hidden behind Randi? Right height and
hair color... and who is hiding behind ADF? ESD?
Also, I think that's BobbyP in the black on the right side.

<p> </p><p>Too Cute:</p><p>I'm pretty sure Erole is behind ADF.</p><p>Given Randi's
penchant for high heels and boots, I don't think that's Melissa behind
Randi. Randi's an inch or two taller than Melissa in bare feet, and
whoever is behind Randi is an inch taller. Plus, I believe Melissa had
a VIP pass for Rock and Ribs and was on the air with R&F, so she
wouldn't be waiting on line. </p><p> That MIGHT be bobby P. I was thinking it could be possibly be Moe, but I wasn't sure.<br /></p><p> </p><p>Some more pics I uncovered...</p><p> </p><p><a href="http://img131.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc24&image=34529_AsburyDawn730.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://img131.imagevenue.com/loc24/th_34529_AsburyDawn730.jpg" /></a></p><p>This picture was taken after I was up
all night in Absury Park, working, the day Springsteen played "The
Today Show". I was groggy, I was hot, smelly, and tired, but it was a
great experience. </p><p><a href="http://img133.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc24&image=34533_IMG_0714.JPG" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://img133.imagevenue.com/loc24/th_34533_IMG_0714.JPG" /></a><br /></p><p>AWWWWWWWWWWWW. </p><p><a href="http://img147.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc24&image=34538_LizBirthdayLisaLou1.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://img147.imagevenue.com/loc24/th_34538_LizBirthdayLisaLou1.jpg" /></a></p><p> </p><p>AWWWWWWWWWWWW.</p><p><br /></p><p> </p>

I figured this thread was worth a bump.
I just bought a new camera and I'm going to be posting in here a lot.
The DSLR I bought, it comes with the kit lens and I bought a 75-300. Can anyone suggest some decent lenses for Canon DSLRs?
PapaBear
12-05-2007, 06:27 PM
Before you get any more lenses, get a good flash.
And if you don't want to pay what Canon flashes cost, a lot of dedicated after market flashes are quite good.

Two steps ahead of you. The package deal I bought on Ebay was the camera, 430ex, two lenses, bag, and extra battery.
AND I DIDN'T BUY IT FROM BROOKLYN.
(and yes, it's got the Canon USA Warranty)
Tenbatsuzen

And before anyone takes offense, Brooklyn is notorious for having slimeball camera dealers that sell grey market goods with no warranties OR have terrible customer service. There's only a few "low-price" camera dealers you can trust -
B&H
Adorama
Cameta Camera
Beach Camera (or BuyDig.com)
Abe's of Maine
(there's a few others, but these are the "good" ones)

About 5 minutes before I left for work last night, I decided NOT to take my camera with me. At least I had my cell phone with me.
I was already in a very good mood about certain things when I saw something that is pretty rare...
More rarely, a secondary rainbow is seen, which is a second, fainter arc, outside the primary arc, with colours in the opposite order, that is, with violet on the outside and red on the inside.
Every once in a while, if you get lucky, you may see a second rainbow on the outside of the first, brighter rainbow. This is the "secondary rainbow" which occurs when raindrops high in the atmosphere refract and reflect light back to the viewer. These raindrops are higher than those which cause the "primary rainbow" and are special because they internally reflect the incoming sunlight twice rather than just once.

So after a year with no camera (broken Digital Rebel XT) I finally got one. Couldn't afford another DSLR so I went mid-range and grabbed a Powershot S5IS after reading a few reviews.
First off. Trying to shoot non-SLR is annoying. Fairly happy with it so far, I'll be more happy once I figure out its strengths and weaknesses.
Very much impressed w/ the macro ability of this. Just a few shots screwin off at work. My exposure is awful so far. The light meter is a bit on the over sensitive side. (Shooting manual)

This thing indeed hates the color green. This is the biggest "flaw" of this sensor I've found so far. Very washed out and almost pixelated (IMO)

Anyone know the scientific term for this? I adjusted it a lot so it's easier to see. No rain in the area but a awesome looking spectrum one of one the blotches of clouds here. I know it's from the angle of the sun and the moisture in the clouds but never saw it before.

I think they are considered sun halos, I see them a lot when the sun is at a certain angle with clouds around. I believe they are reflections caused by crystals in certain clouds.

i took a bunch of pics at my grandma's farm when i was there yesterday. she is moving at the end of the month (she lived there over 60 years) to a smaller place as it being to much for her to care for after my grandfather passed away. my grandfather used it as a dairy farm before he opened a john deere. being one of the last times i will be able to walk around, it brought back a lot of memories. nothing like being a kid on a 150 acre farm with a wild imagination.

i started a black and white photography class today at the local community college. it's a film class, so i will be developing my own film and all that fun shit. it seems interesting so far. i lucked out too. when the instructor was showing the cameras we should get, they were all like 300 bucks and didn't want to spend that much on a film camera i probably won't use that much. my future brother in law is big into photography so i sent him a text seeing if he had any 35mm film cameras. turns out he has a Nikon FA that he is going to let me use for the time being. i'm going to pick up a bunch of film tomorrow. as the course progresses i'll make sure to post some of my pictures up here.

That's a cool camera! BTW... Film cameras are dirt cheap on eBay. I have a Nikon N90s. When it came out, it cost $900. I've seen them sold on eBay for $50. The funny thing is, if you want to buy a lens on there, it's usually better to look for a camera with the lens you want. Since the lenses mostly work on DSLR's, lenses by themselves, are still expensive. But, when they are with a camera body, they still sell cheap for some reason. I think it's just because of the way people search for what they're looking for.
Also, do yourself a favor, and buy some negative sleeves on eBay, too. Get the kind that you can put in a 3 ring binder.
Edit: No good deals on the sleeves on eBay right now, but there are plenty online at other places.

it seems like a really cool camera, and from what i've read about it, pretty cutting edge when it came out. there are two lenses, a 36-72mm and a 70-210mm, and a 2x teleconverter lens. it also has a motor drive (which i don't really know what it does).

The motor drive advances the film automatically. Yes... In olden times, you had to advance the film yourself! It will also allow for taking pics at rate of several shots per second, but that won't really be a feature you'll use when taking artistic shots. Don't use the teleconverter unless you REALLY need to take a shot of something that's far away. It degrades the quality of the image. You'll mostly be using the 36-72mm lens anyway.

Until I get a real flash for my camera, which will hopefully be tax return season if I overpaid as much as I think I might have, it will do. It does a nice job in close up pictures, really prevents things from being washed out. It goes right on the flash shoe and the camera doesnt know it's there so the built in one works as if nothing was attached. It's $20, worth it if you don't plan on getting a $350 flash anytime soon.

Thats a fused three phase primary dead ending at a delta bank. The wire running diagonally from the left of the pole is a guy wire, to support the pole, and the wire running diagonally to the right is the service drop. There appears to be a neutral wire below the primaries. I imagine that is for a heavy duty commercial customer.

I took a bunch of photos was rather proud of by the river that runs behind my house. There was an extreme temperature change one night and there was a lot of really cool melting and refreezing. Here's a link to my Facebook album with them all, I hope this link works.

It's not the page that you view. Just the album. I've viewed albums without logging in before.
