Here's the guy: http://ktla.trb.com/news/la-me-nigerian2mar02,0,2465993.story

I average one or two of these emails per week. I always asked myself why they would even bother. No one could possibly be that dumb. Dr. Louis Gottschalk proved me wrong.

This quote floored me: "Though many of the alleged Nigerian e-mails originate in other countries, Nigerian government officials said more than $700 million relating to 419 crimes had been seized in the last two years. Twelve people have been convicted in connection with the scam during that time, officials said."

There's a lot of incredibly gullible people in the world.

My old boss almost fell for that scam. It's amazing how many people actually do. Of course, it's mostly old people, but it's sometimes just naive fools like my old boss.

About 2 or 3 years ago I had the t.v. on in the background as I was online, and just as I was opening up another one of those e-mails the show that was on (I think it was "Malcolm in the Middle") made a joke about it. Very funny...and very eeeeearie!

Scam?

Oh shit.

Whatever happened to "If it's too good to be true it probably is?"

People lose their common sense on the internet? I feel bad, but if you're stupid enough to do this you shouldn't get your money back. That person should get to keep it.

Helping war-trodden, poverty-stricken Nigerians who know how to email and have internet access is a very charitible thing.
They're only poverty-stricken because people won't help them get their husband's fortune out of a European bank that he invested many years ago before he died suddenly of lung cancer.
