I know I'm setting myself up for a good bashing, but am I the only nerd playing this game????

If you're into "oldschool" RPGs, it's a good title.

This is the only video game I've heard of in the last few years that had me excited to try. Love the Dragon Warrior series even if I haven't played one since 3 on my Gameboy Advanced. When I heard about the game I went right to the official site and thought the demo movies looked fucking awesome.

Only problem is, the last few RPG's I started on the PS2 I put down and never picked up again. Final Fantasy 7, 8, Parasite Eve and even Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube. Not sure why but I got out of videogames big time within the past few years.

But I have to check this game out.

And not really sure why you figured you'd get bashed on this one. I'm sure a few one liners or sarcastic comments might slip in, but no one's going to bash you for this.

The graphics were drawn by the guy that does the DagonBall Z series(not a fan, but great artwork).

The play is oldshcool "turn-based" fighting.

Story is very interesting, too. Kind of dark in parts. I recommend it, Moe.

Then again, it's a very long game.

Never got into the Dragon Quest. Instead I'm waiting for Kingdom Hearts 2, and then for Final Fantasy 12 if it's ever released.

I recently finished Dragon Quest VIII. Was much better than I expected. Didn't care too much for the graphics though. That whole anime style looks too childish to me. Final Fantasy, Grandia, & Shadow Hearts are much more realistic looking.

Still, it was a good game and I would recommend it to all turn-based RPG fans. On a side note, I am now playing Grandia 3. I suggest trying this one out as well. I'm having much more fun with this than I did DQ8. The combat is so much better.

Just read that Square Enix is putting out a title based on Yangus later on this year.

It's called "Young Yangus and the Dungeons of Mystery".

It takes place when Yangus is a kid, and one of the other players in the game is Red.(if you've played DQVIII, you should know who I'm talking about)

Looks like it could turn out to be a cool little game.
