Good to know. I'm a big fan of "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" and "The Soft Bulletin".

I've loved their last two albums, but if they dive back into their filthy hippie past, I'm kicking their stank asses to the curb.

I didn't like the Yoshi album much. Transmissions From The Satelite Heart is an absolute must have IMHO. The drumming & production is refreshing. I fell off the bandwagon about 10 yrs ago - but what an amazing band. Live show is mindblowing.

If you like the lips -you should check out THE POLYPHONIC SPREE (remaining members of Tripping Daisy)I flew to Dallas to see them and it was insane. They remind me of the lips - and thats one of the reason Im a huge spree fan now.

I would like to distend on my previous theoretical example. If, in that example, I were to listen to the album quite a bit for a few days, over and over again, I would imagine that my enjoyment of said music would increase greatly.

Theoretically, of course.

I'll be picking this up, but I have to say I was kind of disappointed by At War with the Mystics.

Kind of?? They fell off hard. Resting on their laurels doesn't begin to cover it.
3 discs ... is this going to be like Zaireeka?
Dude!

if there were a time machine
i would go back to 9 months
before you were born
and stop your parents from copulating

That was hurtful. And not just to me either. I've heard that it was an incredible night of passion. The video evidence I've seen leads me to agree.

So, I looked into this new record -
a. It leaked already .
b. It's not 3 discs in the Zaireeka sense. It is a double LP over 2 cds and includes a DVD version of the album - i.e.- hi-res for your discerning ears.
c. On first listen it is not only better then AWWTM, by a long shot, it also sounds like a return to their Psyche-freak-out roots crossed with their newer obsession with pretty noise and orchestration. I'm pretty grateful for this latest sound, as my favorite FL records start at Soft Bulletin and go BACKWARDS in time. I get that Yoshimi was great but it isn't what I want from these heady Oklahoma freaks.
So far I expect that I'm gonna go pay for this once it drops. It's NOT POLISHED!!
