I just saw Broken Flowers for the first time yesterday. I was curious about what eveyone thought about the ending. I didn't really sense the hopefulness that some movie critics talked about. I did get the feeling that Don (Bill Murray) made some realization at the end (and throughout the movie) but it seemed like it wasn't enough to push him towards a more dramatic change in his life. Did I miss something?

I got confused at the end because i thought Homer Murray was in the
Car at the end and that just made me think of Jersey Rich and it
spoiled the movie for me at that point

then i just went back to the scene with the Daughter again and again and again wow shes adorable

oh this just in i looked it up wich i should of done before it was homer in the car

damm you Rich damm you

I really wanted to like this movie alas I could'nt. The Lolita scene was a nice surprise but a full nude scene does not a movie make. I would'nt recommend

The ending to this movie pissed me off. I'm sure there was some deep philosophical meaning to the ending, but I felt like I watched the stupid movie for nothing.

Plus, Jeff roped me into watching it by claiming he heard it was hilarious, which he later admitted was a total lie, as the movie was pretty depressing.

I think the predicament and regret were the focus of the movie, and nicely wrapped up conclusion would take away from that focus. I'm not sure Don made a realization at all. Most things in life are kind of open-ended like that. I think it was Jarmusch's attempt to be realistic.

I can't think of anything more obnoxious than a director who makes a quest movie and never tells us the ending. I don't even think it's worthy of discussion. I sat through over an hour of the perhaps the most tedious and boring filmmaking I've ever seen...completely devoid of humor, joy, or excitement. The Lolita scene, in my humble opinion, is the classic cliche Indie trademark, underage girls naked and sexual, pure shock, no substance. The movie was garbage...a subtle character arc of a very boring character. I hope Jarmusch chokes on his next meal and vomits on the master before he dies.

I thought it was ok, but not as good as The Razors Edge.
