what are some things most people don't know about you?

here are mine:

i'm shy - most people don't know this because half of the time i'm actually really loud and annoying, and i talk about my menstrual cycle a lot. people just assume that i'm not shy, but i'm a pretty shy person.

most people don't know my age - not because i don't tell them, but because they just assume i'm older. when they do ask me for my age, some are surprised that i'm still just a wee minor.

i'm a good dancer - most people think that i don't know how to dance because i just don't dance in public. but, i'm actually a really good dancer.

i burp a lot

I am a Taoist, and read the Tao te Ching on an almost daily basis. I meditate, and have been involved on and off in the martial arts for over 20 years. I will not leave the house without wearing one of my many yin and yang necklaces.

I am a hopeless romantic, and I fall in love with women very deeply. I love buying flowers, cards, and gifts for the girl I am involved with. I'm usually the one feeling the most pain after a break up, too.

I can sing. I have a fairly deep, nasally speaking voice, but I can belt out a tune like nobody's business. I can also hit some really high notes since I quit smoking 7 months ago. I love punk and hard rock, but soul is the music that stirs me the most.

Finally, although I abhor violence, I recognize the need for it occasionally. In addition to my martial arts background, I grew up playing hockey, and am no stranger to "dropping the gloves." I don't enjoy fighting, but it is something I happen to do very well. It is a shame people like to mistake kindness for weakness sometimes, and have to find this out the hard way.

We're Birthday Puppies.

A kid gets a puppy for his birthday, he loves him for that day, he's the greatest thing ever. Then it turns out you have to take care of the dog, give it attention and affection at times that might be inconvenient for you. Eventually, the dog goes back to the pound because it's become a nuisance.

Isn't that suitably depressing? ;P

I too fall very easily in love and I tend to be clingy. The birthday puppy syndrome doesn't work for me because I still love and smother my puppy to this day, 6 years later. I didn't get her for my birthday either.

In Frued's original topographic model of the psyche he described how people have a tendency to repeat unpleasant things,

This is done in an attempt to gain mastery over it. An excellent example of this is a baby playing Peek-a-boo. The baby sees the person interacting with it as disappearing then coming back. (You're gone, you're back, repeat). The baby expereinces distress than relief, distress relief. Eventually the child able to get great satisfaction from having the stress relieved.

This sets up the plan for later life. Keep on repeating mistakes until you can repeat the pattern of following every similar types distress with the relief so badly sought.

BTW, this was Freud's first theroy, and had nothing to do with his much more well known structural theory dealing with the id, ego and superego.

People (particularly those who never read or studied Freud) tend to summarily dismiss him. Indeed, some parts of his theories are indeed silly. But many of his ideas are brilliant.

I want to be loved but don't know how to accept it. When someone tells me that they love me, I immediately tell them that they don't know what they're saying and that if they knew the "real me" they couldn't possibly feel the way they do.

I have lost two great relationships this way. I think(and have been told) that it is a way of protecting myself from being hurt in the future. Who the hell knows.

Also, I try to come off being the hard-nosed, tough guy but people also see through that. They tell me that I'm a pretty sensitive guy and there I go again trying to disprove their insight. I guess that I'm just afraid to let people get close to me.

hmmm... well, lets see

I am a total scatter brain, I lose either my keys, wallet, glasses etc, at least once everyday, and no matter what attempt I make to keep organized, I always lose stuff that is right in front of my face.

I easily become over obsessive. When I got something in my head, I have to go all out and do it 100% and I won't be able to do anything else until I complete what is in my mind.

I have never had a girlfriend that has lasted over a month (except for this one psycho chick that doesn't really count) Its not that I haven't wanted a relationship or there have been a lack of women, I have just not met that ONE girl yet.

I have only one true regret in my life... that I won't dicuss here. Lets just say it still has not been resolved.

I have played bass guitar since H.S. and picked up acoustic guitar a couple months ago so I can learn Stephen Lynch songs.

When there are tough points in my life or I am just sad and frustrated, I will put in tapes of seinfeld and watch for hours until I can figure out the most simple sloution for my problems.

That is all I can think of right now.

I am very quiet and shy. I'm even quiet on this message board. Sometimes I wonder what people could possibly have to talk about all the time. A lot of conversations I overhear irritate me because they seem so pointless, just conversing for conversation's sake. I never learned how to keep a conversation going, so I usually just keep to myself. I talk to myself constantly though.

My eyes still get moist almost every day thinking about September 11.

I have a hard time speaking sometimes because I think I might be a stutterer. I mumble a lot as a result, so I constantly have to repeat things I say. I struggle to get the first words out of my mouth, but I freeze up and either speak too quickly or too indistinctly.

I hate to be stared at or even noticed. I am pretty tall, but I feel like I hunch over a lot, and I stare at my feet when I walk.

I am a cancer survivor.

I play online computer games a lot, so much so that I joined a team and we compete in organized leagues with practices and matches several times a week (I've been on sabbatical for a while to do wedding planning and now my injured finger).

I hate going to bars and clubs because I don't drink, I don't like smoke, and I don't socialize well, so to me it's a waste of time. If there is another bar crawl, however, I will make an exception. :)

in collage at CalArts i did krystal and went to undergrounds for almost two years ruining my collage career. then again it was the late ninties everybody was.

on the other hand this perfectionism causes me to stop tasks in the middle of them or not even attempt them out of a fear of failure. in my mind failure has become unacceptable.

i guess in a sense my stutter is a failure. therefore eats away at me everyday.

I hate my appearance. I'm really not comfortable with the fact that I started losing my hair in my early 20's. Yes, I wear a baseball hat all the time because I hate my round, bald, south park lookin' head. I have bad feet. I crack every joint in my body. It's uncomfortable, but it's like an OCD. I'm much fatter than I should be. I drink much more than I should. I've been involved with a married woman, twice. I'm ashamed of myself for it. I can tie a cherry stem in a knot with my tounge. I don't have a fetish, but I feel I should. I have an extremely hard time talking to a woman I'm attracted to. I do not like the idea of a one night stand. I'm much more of a relationship person. I'm actually fairly shy in general. I had a deep relationship with a woman that I was madly in love with and there was no sex between us. I bought a house in a town I struggled to get out of for many years because it would have brought me closer to the aformentioned woman, but we stopped seeing each other shortly afterward, and now I'm stuck in a town I hate and most of my friends live over an hour away. I've never cheated on any woman I've ever dated, even if I've been a guy that someone else cheated with. I'm fairly tatooed (14). I really have anger issues about stupid people. I believe I may be one of those stupid people. I like the band I play in, but I know we're not that great. I don't believe Jesus was the son of God. I am awful with saving money. I am awful at keeping this place clean. I've done many drugs in my life, but now I only smoke pot and drink. I've lied before, but that was many, many years ago, and now I am so severely honest because of it, that it gets me in trouble at times. I think the Marx Brothers were way ahead of their time. I think my brother is an idiot, for many, many reasons, but at times I think he just may be a misunderstood genius. I hate the sound of my own voice. I can't sing, but I wish I could. I'm actually a really nice person, but if you tell anyone, I'll deny it. I wish I wasn't here, by myself.

I'm just your regular guy working for a living. Fell in love at 20 and now married for 15 1/2. Have two beautiful, and good girls 11 and 9. Plus a beautiful not so good Lady but I think she'll keep me.
Like to swim, garden, and fish when time allows.
Played alot of sports back in the day. Now I like to play guitar and jam. I'd really like to work in another country where the art is appreciated and the stories are more substantial. I'm moving to Japan when I complete my collegiate requirements for my BA in Electronic Film and Digital Video Design, where I will teach english for up to a year. I recently retired from my job with the city (NYPD)- I am now a practicing RN with a city hospital.

I have also gone through the death of my wife awhile ago and I still am experiencing problems with that. I don't want to get close to anyone else right now. That's probably why this board has become my outlet for my feelings since I feel safe here and no one can really hurt me. I have actually made some good friends here.

I now also have time for my 2 kids - well. they're not kids anymore and they both work for the city. I'm still trying to find my niche as a single guy again but damn- it's hard and it's lonely at times.

I like to think of myself as quite the romantic. I love doing the little things that just makes whichever girl I am with go awww. I LOVE drawing things for them which they always love. I give tons of roses, little gifts and most of all my heart and my respect to them too. I love taking the unexpected drive to someplace like a lake or the boardwalk at 4AM or just someplace quiet to hold them and to just lie there and look at the stars. It is also pretty cool when they fall asleepon my shouolder and I wake up with that little bit of drool there.
I aspire to have a career in cartoon animations and/or illustrationg storybooks geared towards little kids to not only make them smile but be able to learn at the same time. If through my cartoons I can touch the life of one child (adults too) and make him/her feel more better about themselves and have some confidence and say to themselves, "Yes I can!" then I will have been a success. Nothing was more satisfying than to have a few kids look at my reel at my graduation and to see them laugh.

I too have the birthday puppy syndrome. I have ADD, I am 25. I recently had gastric bypass sugery. I still think sometimes that I could get back together with my highschool girlfriend then realize it will never happen. I unknowingly had sex with a post-op transgender after a long night of partying at Sound Factory. There is other stuff but nothing can topp the last one.
