actually, it was already on. i watched it last night, but didnt see the whole thing. but enough to see he's not quite right still. i missed the 1st 20 minutes, and the last hour....so i dunno if they address his issues head on. he's still spontaneously funny, but rambling at times, not exactly making sense, and he's definitely in some sort of psychological pain. almost sad.

he did point out how surreal it was for lipton to ooh and ahh over "i'm rick james bitch"..which he does.

its worth a look though, and i may even try to catch the whole thing myself.

It is sad, a waste of a great talent.

well...yeah. he's had his bout with drugs. but i think what we see in this broadcast is his personality fighting with whatever psych meds he's on currently.

this is on again thursday 8-10pm. definitely worth a look, especially now that ive seen the end.

I don't think he is on anything. He had a breakdown and
is trying to put up the pieces without anything, which is why he is
struggling so hard. He reminds me of a few friends of mine in life who
were overachievers. When they get off track, they get real nutty and
reclusive. He is almost a victim of his own intelligence and
insight.
STOP with the "Dave is the victim" shit. He got the break of a lifetime and couldn't deal with it.

I watched the last half hour last night (found it flipping channels), thought it was interesting, but Dave is still messed in the head.

I'm really not seeing what everyone else did when they're sayng he "still seems crazy or messed up." He seemed like Chappelle. Watch him host his show, or any interviews he's given at any point is his career...he honestly seems like a kinda shy, quiet guy. But get him doing his standup or acting in a film or performing in a sketch on his show and he lets "it" out. Honestly, it reminds me of DeNiro...not that I'm comparing the two as actors, but as celebrities in their "screen persona" vs. their "real life persona." If you went by how he acts when NOT in front of a camera on a film set, DeNiro strikes me as being damn near a sociopath, or possibly mildly retarded. Some actors are ALWAYS "on" no matter what...but others seem to only do their thing when it's for a movie or TV show, and then as soon as their done that's it, they shut it off. Chappelle seems like one of those actors...him being interviewed seemed to me like if most "average people" were interviewed on TV in front of hundreds of people...shy, nervous, with a healthy dose of "what the fuck is THIS all about? Why ya care?!?"

The whole thing with his show shutting down reflects that. Guy is suddenly THE flagship for an entire network, everywhere he turns people are quoting him and saying he's the funniest man alive...suddenly, a pile of money is shoved at him and he's expected to amp all of that up even MORE. Honestly, I can't say I wouldn't have caved in myself under that kind of pressure...money isn't some kind of magic cure-all...dude just felt too much on his shoulders in a massively high-stressed situation and he didn't feel he could step up to the expectations. Big deal. It's not like he fleeced Comedy Central...he didn't get the entire $50 million once it was clear season 3 wasn't going to be completed. And he may have literally made them a ton of cash through the DVD sales.

I'm curious to see the few completed episodes of season 3 later this year. Maybe he DIDN'T have "it" anymore...

They had a preview in December during that "Last Laugh 2005 year in review thing.

It's hard goddamn work to write comedy, especially comedy that is socially relevant and insightful. Chappelle's comedy is both and that's what makes it important work...and it's fucking hilarious.

As to Moe's comment, i think it's a little dismissive, don't you? The man didn't want to lose his soul, I think that's something to be respected.
