I see Comedy Central puts a lot of ads out for Battlebots. And it's ALWAYS on the damn channel. Even John Stewart busts on this shitty show.
So anyone actually like this show? I gave it a try, and personaly HATE it! Run some SNL reruns or something. Or perhapse...THE TICK AND THE CRIIC!!!

It's a bad show that doesn't fit into COMEDY but I think peopel still like it. Personally I htink they show the critic a tad too much (i think it's great but don't oversaturate it) but showing Duckman would be nice. I would also like to see first seasons of SNL reruns on there more
EDIT: And it always rawks to hear Jon making fun of Battlebots

I tried to get into it, but I just think it is the most boring thing to watch...EVER. I would rather watch an entire golf match, followed by a championship round of bowling, than to watch a mere 30 minutes of this crap.

I don't know GVAC. They're all pretty awful. I'd rather suffer through a 1/2 hour of crap than an entire day of crap.
I think they should ship all these shows to Afghanstan and force them to watch.

I like the show...
When I was young me and my friends use to save our money and by radio contrlo race cars. By the end of the day they ere usually pretty much destroyed. We would crash it into things, light it on fire, what ever,
There is nothing better than building something than just to destroy it 10 minutes later!!!

I guess Tom Poo and I are the only ones who dig the show.
I'm probably deluded, but I think it's better than 95% of the other crap they show on Comedy Central. I can do without that extra replaying of "The Chris Wylde Show" thank you.
If you want a really shitty robot fighting show, check out that Mick Foley TNN-hosted program. What's it called? Robot Wars or something like that? Only thing worse than a bad robot-fighting TV show (Battlebots) is the clone of a bad robot-fighting TV show.

I think calling Chris Wylde a Tom Green rip-off is too much of a compliment. That show is totally awful.

I think Tom Green is OK but even if you hate Tom Green you'll think he's comic genius compared to Wylde.

I watched Battlebots when it first came on, see what they could do with the concept. After all, the concept IS comparable to the great "Junkyard Wars" on The Learning Channel. People build something designed for a certain purpose, then compete with what they come up with, the result relying on the certain strengths and weaknesses of their inventions combined with predetermined obstacles. (If you haven't seen it, watch it, it's much more interesting than my explanation)
If it was a lot more violent than it is, I'd probably still watch it.
I stopped watching when they got that new announcer, who resembles a well-dressed Frankenstein monster. Actually, he reminds me of that commercial from the last Superbowl with Christopher Reeves walking again.
Considering there's not a lot of "The Critic" to go around, a couple shows a week is a bit too much.
And the complete lack of "The Tick" is a fucking SIN.
Comedy Central has managed to have periods of GREATNESS that quickly disappear. in additionto The afforementioned "The Tick" they've had on at one point or another:
-Upright Citizens Brigade
-The Young Ones
-Black Adder
-Monty Python's Flying Circus
-More frequent Kids in the Hall
-The League of Gentlemen (okay, maybe I'm the only one who liked this show)
-Absolutely Fabulous, BEFORE they ran it into the ground (I loved that show. Then they played it every night of the week AND ran marathons of it on the weekends)
-What happened to all the sketch comedy?
But I guess they need time to run more "Strip Mall" and Andrew McCarthy movies twice a day.

How about "Strangers with Candy"? That was a great show, but damn if you can find it on now.
And are they even running TV Funhouse anymore?

OH YEA Pootertoot! Upright Citizens Brigade was Fuckin' Awesome!
"Everytime a penny passes through your hand, stick it up your ass!"
They always seem to cancel good shows like UBC, The Kids in the Hall, and The State.
And BattleBots STILL BLOWS!

they should definitely show UCB, SwC and KitH more. They have too few Critic episods to show it so many times. Another show they had but never showed was DUCKMAN!! The first few seasons were some of the best ever. Even the later seasons had classics like 'Hamlet 2: This Time It's Personal.' It's a shame more people see Bob Patterson than saw Duckman. And I hope that CC buys The State because it's sickening that that show isn't on syndication. I also think they should show OLDER SNLs like Bill Murray era SNL at times.
They're bringing back Absolutely Fabulous.

I forgot about Strangers with Candy. I will ALWAYS laugh at Stephen Colbert confronting Jerry for her insensitivity and selfishness bringing down the room because her father died:
"It's okay Jerry, you lost you're father. Everyone's lost their father..."
"You've lost your father??"
"NO! DON'T YOU EVEN SAY THAT! MY DADDY WILL NEVER DIE! ::points skyward accusingly:: DO YOU HEAR ME GOD?!?!"
I'm ashamed to admit I've never seen an episode of "The State". Poor me.
Perhaps they could get a hold of "Mr. Show", HBO only runs it at 4 am when they're stuck for a half hour's programming (Thank you Tivo for doing my dirty work!)
Se7en, like everything, they made about 6 episodes of TV Funhouse and they'll run them indefinitely.
BRING BACK MYSTERY SCIENCE FUCKING THEATER 3000!

oh pooter, you genius you. if they aired old CC era MST3K episodes I would literally spank it every night to it. MST3K is one of the best shows ever made and I missed a lot of the early episodes. Just turning on TV and seeing the bots riff on a Gamera or Hercules flick is enough to bring joy to even the most cynical bastard.
And Stephen Colbert definitely showed his comic magnificence on Strangers With Candy. One moment of the series that always stuck out in my mind is when Jerri pulls the fire alarm, all the kids are walking out slowly looking upset and you have the principal, Stephen Colbert and Mr. Jellineck pushing everyone aside screaming for their life. The Principal was one funny fucker too.
I don't thin Mr. Show would work because one of the brillance of Mr. Show was how each segment lead to the next segment in a Monty Pythonian matter. Commercials would just break up that ingenius flow. I did hear that the series was coming on DVD later this year/early next year.

se7en... NICE!!!! we can discuss who the best battle bot is at the next bar crawl!!!
pooter, I couldn't agree more.
I don't know if you were ever a fan of Dr. Katz, but in my opinion was right up there with the Simpsons and South Park as greatest Comedy Cartoons out there.
And Where did that show go??? and why don't they at least rerun it???
Comedy central, a great idea... horrible execution of it.
<IMG SRC="http://tompoo.50megs.com/images/sigpic1.jpg" width=300 height=100>
GASP! Poo, we actually agree on something! I just mentioned in another thread a few days ago my love for Dr. Katz, and my dismay at how it simply vanished from the air waves. That show was golden, and the son Ben was one of the funniest characters in TV comedy history.
As for MST3K, this is quite possibly the greatest, and funniest, show EVER. I refuse to miss it on Saturday mornings, even though they're all reruns. Even if I'm hungover as a rat, I giggle like a hyena and all is right with the world when it's on.

A woman who likes MST3K? Rock.
I forgot about Dr. Katz, too. A side project involving people from Katz, "Home Movies", plays on the Cartoon Network at 10 pm on Sundays and Thursdays. It's definitely funny and has that "improv" feel you got from Dr. Katz.
For those interested, the SciFi channel still plays MST3K reruns at 9 am on Saturdays. Thank you again, Tivo.
Maybe if we lighted our torches and stormed CC headquearters, we could get our way.
And if Mr. Show comes to DVD, I'll buy at least 10 copies. 1 to watch, 9 to spank over. I bought the "entire" run of Mr. Show off Ebay (it's missing quite a few episodes, not too many, but it also came with two compilation tapes of pretty much EVERY appearance of Bob and David on TV other than Mr. Show, including Talk Shows, David Cross' comedy special, a few episodes of The Ben Stiller Show, and even bits they did for award specials. It rocks.)

FX had it too for a short while. Unfortunately, there's only a few episodes of that show too...although that's never a problem for CC.
