OK! The ribs are almost done slow-grilling, the black beans have been simmering for hours, and the Hommade Mac and Cheese is good to go. The only problem is I am watching on a 13" while grilling, and the boys are watching Caillou in HD!!

This is going to be a home field for the Steelers, it's easy to tell already.

And I usually hate these ceremonies, but the Super Bowl MVP thing was hilarious. It was like watching an age progression of an average NFL player.

And I could have swore that Bart Starr was dead already.

Stones were good. Nobody, nobody can work a stadium like Mick. I saw them a few times live, and most bands suck in stadiums. But Mick Jagger knows how to work a stadium like no one else. And I'm surprised he still has the energy he had 10 and 15 years ago when I saw them live.

Thoughts: Blame the half-time performance on the sound techs, not the Stones.  Stones performed well, and sound mix was lousy. Sprint's Crime Deterrent was fucking great. "Cause they're jews!" - awesome.

Seahawks got screwed by the refs on 3 consecutive plays in what turned out to be the turning point in the game. Score is 14-10, Seahawks driving, Hasselbeck throws a pass to Stevens at the 1 yard line. Called back on a bad holding call. Next play, Alexander has a run and is taken down with a horse collar by Joey Porter. No penalty. Then Hasselbeck throws the interception and in one of the stupidest calls I have ever seen in my life, gets called for an illegal block while making a tackle. WTF? Why would he even be blocking at all? Stupid, inexcusable call. Combine that with the question pass interference that negated that first quarter touchdown, and they have a lot to be pissed about.

Still, Seattle had their chances. And I'd like to thank them for taking the title of most pathetic hurry up offense in Super Bowl history away from my Eagles.

Get ready to be sick of all the Rothlisberger coverage within a week. He was good, not great. He had a few good runs, a few good blocks which is very rare for a QB. He also didn't show up for the first 25 minutes of the first half and had one TD and two INT's. But he will be Joe Montana by this time next week.

I thought the refs called some ticky tack fouls at KEY times of the game. I think the Seahawks were in the end zone 3 times but only had one score to show for it. The Steelers were VERY lucky to even be in the game in the 2nd quarter. But overall, the Seahawks only have themselves to blame. 2 INT's converted into 3 points, horrible hurry up offenses to end both halfs, and the worst punting and special teams I've ever seen in a Super Bowl team.

Penalty Yards - Seattle 70 / Pitt 20     everyone knows you can call holding on almost all plays. it just happened to be called mostly after Seattle had a big play. Seattle screwed up at the end of the 1st and 2nd half but Pitt was getting the calls. You can tell on the goal line play and the 'fumble' that was reversed, Pitt was getting the benefit of the doubt with the initial call...

Was the NFL rooting for the Steelers? Almost all the calls went
Pittsburgh's way. Seahawks got robbed. Ben did not get in, his knee was
down, the pass interference was a wash, and the horse collar tackle.
C'mon and open you're eyes refs. One of the worst officiated games ever
for a Superbowl. 
 If only they kicked a field goal to make the final score 21-13 I coulda won $250 at my office pool. Damn!

The only thing I will say in favor of the refs is that hardly anybody called horse collars this year. It's like they never even instituted the rule.

But something was bothering me all game, and now I just put my finger on it: the ref for this game was the one who overturned the Polamalu interception in the Indy-Pit game. How does somebody who screws up that much get to officiate the Super Bowl? Can't Ed Hochuli do it every year? Please?

The refs completely changed the outcome of this game.  It's really inexcusable.  I don't see how you can be proud of your team if you're a Pittsburgh fan.

While I will agree that there were some bad calls, Seattle did absolutely nothing to take advantage of the mistakes the Steelers made. Ben throws 2 picks, aside from one big run Pitt had absolutely no running game, they couldn't get a 1st down all 1st quarter and Seattle has the best RB in the game. They should have destroyed Pitt will all this in their favor and they didn't.

I listened to the game on the radio, (fucking AM radio sucks... it's the first time I ever envied anyone with Sirius) so I can't really vouch for how the calls went. I will say, this entire season had to be the worst season in recent history, when it comes to officiating. There were so damn many games that were screwed up by bad calls.I've always been a huge fan of the call challenge but, I now agree that it screws up the game. The calls that the refs initially make, are affected by the fact that the play can be challenged. Refs aren't really free to call the game as they see it. It's exactly why I turned to College Football years ago....

It's fun, there is a good amount of parity, but not so much that it ruins the game, and its still decided by athletes and not schemes....And most of the kids stick around for 4-5 years so you really get a sense of continuity you don't get in the pros

And people will probably rip it because of the BCS....that's fine...I happen to like the system because it makes every single game the playoffs....
