Electronic Arts Inc. on Wednesday began laying off several hundred workers in a move the video game publisher says will help cut costs and shift resources amid changing business strategies and a revenue-slowing transition to new gaming machines.

EA, the world's largest video game publisher, as well as its smaller rivals, have all been stung in recent months with slower sales a cyclical and typical result during a transition to next-generation gaming consoles. In this case, analysts say, consumers are delaying video game purchases in anticipation of the upcoming release of Sony Corp.'s PlayStation 3, or until they could get Microsoft Corp.'s newly released Xbox 360, which is scarce.


Now this I can understand....Ive been looking for possible games to buy the last few weeks but have found NOTHING that really interests me....with possibly the exception of the College Baseball game....

*shrugs* I might go pick up that Arena Football game next week....

You should hate EA for churning out consistently mediocre games, filling their games with lousy music from lame bands, overcharging for their games, treating their workers like slave labor, and for buying exclusive rights to the NFL and starting the decline in quality of one of their few genuine A+ franchises. Anything else is just extra.

But be thankful you didn't puy the PSP version of Madden 2006. It had a bug that stopped people from saving in franchise mode, and they refused to help for months, and finally agreed to send out replacement discs as the season ended.

primarily a sports gamer, and I've never been unsatisfied with Madden
for the past five years, until I played the 360 edition.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>I
am using cognitive dissonance by saying that it's just a launch title,
they didn't have the full development time, etc. etc. but if 2007 is
just as awful when it comes out in six months, I am going to be VERY
pissed off.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>I STILL haven't opened Tiger Woods 2006
for Xbox 360.&nbsp; NHL 2K6 for 360 was disappointing as well, but
that's not a EA Title.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
