Does anyone use the eMusic service or whatever it is to download music?

The only pay one I use is iTunes, just curious if eMusic is any good.

I have been known to use iTunes on occasion, but that's it. I won't even try another one after I bothered to check out WalMart's download site with a free promotion. Confusing, didn't like the bitrate and it gave me a problem trying to put it on my iPod, so it was useless.

I just checked it out.

Waste of money if ya ask me. I typed in some artists names just to see what came up. I couldn't find anything I was looking for so...I typed in some popular titles. BLACK EYED PEAS and KELLY CLARKSON are not on there. Neither wasLINKIN PARK although...eMusic did have an album by a LP tribute band AND Chester Benningtons old bands demo.

Pass.

I used it for a while maybe a year ago. I was too lazy to get my money's worth. It's got a lot of obscure stuff, lots of independant labels like Lookout! and Epitaph and others. They seemed to add stuff pretty frequently.

It's a one fee a month, specific number of downloads. (I was on the 40 plan for $10 I think).

I quit cause I was lazy, and it wasn't the most compatible thing with my Mac. But if you're looking for some more rare stuff it pretty cool.

I've been using eMusic for the last four months and its fantastic! I have the $20/75 downloads per month subscription and I always burn through them all on the first of the month. It's a great way to go if you're into indie music and like finding new bands to listen to.

I used it for a little while. You can't beat the price, and the bit rate is good. My only problem with it was the lack of selection. I looked for a lot of stuff that just wasn't there, but was on other sites. If I ever sign up for another service, it will probably be emusic, though. Like I said... you can't beat the price.

The price is great, plus everything is DRM free, which is nice.

i did it for a year ... at first the selection was a little sparse, but they've added a lot of labels and bands since
i like that you own the files outright, and you can do whatever you like with them (unlike itunes)
i'll probably re-up latter in the year, so the catalog flushes out a bit
i think radio shack sells cheap gift cards, if you wanted to feel it out first

Not to mention, it's pretty damn easy to get anwhere from 25 to 50 free downloads. Just do some searches.

eMusic fan since 2001. In the old days, it was unlimited downloads for $9.99 a month!
It's a fantastic service for INDEPENDENT music. The fucking boards over there are awash with simpletons complaining about the lack of popular music. eMusic does not hide the fact that it is an INDEPENDENT music service, yet moroons constantly sign up and bitch that there's no Justin Timberlake available.
Anyone who feels greasy after paying for a major-label release would probably love eMusic. From Classical, Old and new Blues, Metal, Punk, Indie, Experimental, it's all there.
Also, eMusic has the "Lightnin' Rod" album "Hustler's Convention", so enough said.
edit: Just FYI, eMusic's files are all VBR and non-DRM.
