Maybe it's just me, but today's show had the sound, vibe, and feel of classic Ron and Fez.

For some reason it just really seemed to all come together and click today, whereas it had felt like something was a bit off since they've been on XM.

Perhaps Harry really was dragging the show down behind the scenes.

hilarious.  Does anyone else think Earl sucks for not wanting to
get hypnotized?  I've heard that you can't be made to do anything
you wouldn't do out of hypnosis.

I'm so fucking sick of stuck up Ron and Fez fans.  They say stupid things like "Ron and Fez are better because they don't have to be dirty to be funny" and "It's smarter comedy" like they're so much better than O&A fans.  I used to think like that too to a point but it's just bullshit. The 2 shows are very different but compliment each other very well.  I will always like Ron and Fez more but I won't put down O&A or their fans at the same time.  It makes you look like you think you're better than everybody else and it makes you look foolish.

I think the people who like both shows are just happy whenever the four hosts are all together - just a nice treat every once and awhile. I don't know if people had different expectations of when R&F signed with XM - if 202 would end up being one long, blended show. Hopefully they aren't disappointed. R&F are excellent at making other hosts feel comfortable on their show - the times Jefe and Dubs sat in, for a "fastest hour" time of roundtable on JFK, was really cool and interesting and funny. And no matter what show they go on, R&F always bring the funny. Fez drinking with D&M is still one of my favorites; I also dug when the Fez called into The Hideout last October - very funny, and very gay! Iris calling into the Hideout the year before also killed me. I really wish there was tape out there of them with Miles and Thrill from Live 105. The AFRO Shows are a great way of bringing fans from one show to the other. If it's not already being done, however, I'd love to see more of a discussion each day  (dosn't have to be long - brief is fine, as long as it's consistant) of what the other show is doing. R&F do it all the time, and maybe O&A do too - I don't know. They have the audience. I just know that I've been impressed with the way Howard, over on Sirius, has made a point each show to talk about what Bubba did the day before. Not in a forced, fake way either.R&F are an easy sale, imo. There's no reason XM shouldn't just be pouring traffic their way.[edit: GREAT Mikeyboy! That clip had some good drops, including some Gob/Arrested Development drops, and the Goonies drop, but it needs better music.  That's the key to an opening.   The drops are just the frosting to the music.  Without good music, it sucks.BTW, I do not guarantee that I used the term "drop" properly.  <img src="http://home.nyc.rr.com/bkemper/Snow1.jpg" border="0" />

There were some great drops in the bit (including the Bitz song!!), but it was too long and got too confusing at some point - not a total wash, imo. Just a little slighter.****"Stupid Radio Bullshit" - lol!

Despite your good intentions, the clip has several problems:The music isn't "grabbing."  Yes, it is by bands R&F like, but they don't grab the attention like they should.  And the music doesn't need to be R&F related.  I don't think that ICP's Oddities would not otherwise be considered R&F oriented but it worked with everything.Even if the music was good, you can't really hear it.  You have way, way too many drops, each of top of the other.  There were a number of drops I never heardor could recognize because they were quick and ran into the other. As someone else said, your drops did not seem to tell a story (maybe they did, but since they were on top of each other, I couldn't tell).  The drops used now have points or themes that fit well together.  Your drops just seemed to be used in many instances, because they come from movies or shows that R&F likes.  That is only part of the process. <img src="http://home.nyc.rr.com/bkemper/Snow1.jpg" border="0" />

The drops were intentionally dense, especially during the middle chunk after "Lets speed it up a couple of octaves" (insanely hilarious line from Boogie Nights). The music fits well with densely placed drops, and I made sure about it. The only riff I might change is the one that comes in during the GOB bleeping sexual harrassment transition. That was a bit of a throwaway riff that my not have fit well with the rest. I love the Love For Tender riff at the very end, it is perfect for a Ron "ahhhh buddies". As far as the drops "telling stories", well, listen to it again. They do make sense ("This isnt good cop bad cop, this is fag and new yorker" into "BING POW", and "your grandmother fucked a nigger" (a favorite of ron's) into "WE SOUND LIKE ASSHOLES RIGHT NOW" into "I'd recognize that toosh anywhere!" They flow together musically and as pertains to word choice//theme. Now I'm not going to sit here and break it down completely, I just think if you get it another listen and let the large number of speedly delivered clips come to you- you'll understand.And if you dont like the music, all I can do is civily disagree, I love every riff and I think it is a crime they are not used in every radio show's intro.

Well Eli I see you and I disagree on many points, so lets just agree to that.I made this intro because I hate the current one, the clips don't fit the music and no they do not make sense. Basically every argument you had against mine I could make against the current one, so it's fine. Do not compare mine to the current intro in the sense that it follows the same formula- it doesnt, it's different and not accidentally. I dont like how there are a few random drops over a long music bed (which is essentially what the current intro is).I'm comfortable with people needing to listen to it again, I like that about it. It does sadden me that Mikeyboy didn't like it either, but just because you and he dig the current one, doesn't mean nobody liked mine. One is that they come from movies (and other sources) generally liked by the show (I say generally because Ron has said that he isn't a big fan of "American Beauty"), the other is that they tend to relate to themes relevant to the show (being the best, being back after an absence, New York, etc.).  Also, I immensely dislike the "nigger" drop, because, out of context it sends the wrong message and would just encourage more of the lunkhead, unfunny racist callers.  And I respectfully disagree on the looped riff at the end that would lead into the "buddays".  It doesn't work for me.

I honestly agree about the nigger drop.HOWEVER, in its defence- I added it because Ron specifically stated that was one of his favorite dialogue scenes of all time, and I love how "WE SOUND LIKE ASSHOLES RIGHT NOW" cuts it off.
