THE ELECTRIC COMPANY!

Bill Cosby, Morgan Freeman, Rita Moreno, and ultra cool 70's special effects and style make this one of the greatest TV shows ever.

If you've never seen it, I pity you.

Now I feel dumb for getting those bootlegs last year...oh wait, I already felt dumb when I got those bootlegs last year. LOVED this show, btw. Really clever, ahead of its time, and something FUN for 1970s brats like me who were too old for The Street but were still too young to sneak into the Exorcist.

holy shit! I remember that show!! Didn't they have like the pac man bit
where the character would have to chomp numbers and if he got an
equation wrong (which he always did) something would come out to get
him?
Did that come on before or after Carmen San Diego on PBS?...I wanna say
before....I remember that show too, with the immortal Lynne Thigpen,
and at the end of the show the team that won would have to put the big
poles with sirens on the top on the corresponding country/city...I
always felt bad for the kids that got Africa or Asia...And who can forget Rockapella?

Now im rambling...someone start a Carmen San Diego thread...

the one thing good about being old is being able to say you watched these shows when they were brand new, and damn this show, and the original Zoom, ruled. Sesame Street is a given, but Electric Company was the shit.

Was Letter Man EC? Now david, but Letter Man: 'Stronger then silent E, able to leap capital T in a single bound...'

Some on this board may have no clue what you're talking about. But I'm old enough to remember growing up in a time before cable television when we only had seven channels. No Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network or Disney Channel. Oh yeah and I had to get up and walk across the room to the t.v. set if I ever wanted to change the channel.

The Electric Company, Zoom, Sesame Street, Mister Roger's Neighborhood, 3-2-1 Contact

Ahhh good times, good times.

Here's something to hold you over until the DVDs come out:

http://www.badtree.com/Family_Guy.php?FN=Electric_Company.wmv

a while Noggin was playing Square one at like 4 am this was like 2

"You Can't Do That on Television" is supposed to also be making a DVD a debut in 2006. The only other children's program I'd like to see make a showing on DVD is the 1980s "New Adventures of Mighty Mouse" - the brilliant prelude to "Ren and Stimpy."
