I doubt very highly that Bin Laden has set foot in the US.

I think anybody who even remotely resembles him would be locked away for 100 years.

And as far as there being another attacke, while that may be a give, it probably wont have anything to do with, at least directlyt, with Bin Lade but I'm sure he'll take claim for it.

If it happens again it'll just be a couple of b*stards that got together to do whatever they do

Here's something I've alsways wondered. Does the Bush administration really want to catch Bin Laden?
As long as he's out there, the threat is still out there in the minds of the American public. If we catch him, the public will move on and think of terrorism as "yesterdays news" despite the fact that there are any number of lieutenents poised and ready to take his place. So is it good political policy NOT to catch him?

And another question, one that Israel has dealt with for years. The more we fight back, the more recruits for Bin Laden. So as long as we keep the war on terror going, the more jihadists we create. And Iraq will always be a symbol of US imperialism as long as it isn't an Islamic republic in these people's eyes, especially as long as we have troops there. Is this war really winnable?

It's kinda sick how Osama went from being a man to fear to a punchline to jokes again.

Don't forget what this motherfucker can do. I want some "Autopsy Photos" of him on ogrish.com as soon as possible.

Lets face it folks, like it or not - Osama is the real king of all media. This guy fucking sneezes and it makes front page. He releases audio - it's aired worldwide - There isnt a day that goes by that he isnt in the news. The guy has the best press agent in the biz. He's in music videos - there are movies made about him - there are songs written about him - a zillion books about him and his "family" - I hate to say it, but the United States Government and global media has made this fucknut infamous... They should've kept their mouth shut - about going after him. They never should've given this guy credit for 9-11, I stick to my original theory - The US doesn't REALLY want to catch this boogie man.

The internet once offered the hope that we could engage each other in dialogue without having to rely on pundits to "represent" our side in phony TV debate shows anymore. It WAS an opportunity. But what have we done with that opportunity? We've created liberal and conservative messageboards where we spew hatred about each other 24 hours a day; and when we do come together in cyberspace it's almost pure venemous insults that sew nothing but division. (I've stayed on this board partly because it has managed, most of the time, to have a majority of honest civil debate in between the open and veiled attacks on the other.) On Freep they actually pool their resources to try to track down liberals they deem a threat and destroy their lives; they share the contact information of commanding officers of servicemen who speak against the war in order to get them dihonorably discharged, for exam

And anybody who is to the right of middle, has become the extreme right, or extreme crazies, because of course, we arent open minded and flexible enough, to agree with liberals. Obviously if we find their thinking dangerous and detremental, its because we are dangerous, fascist, brutal unfeeling ditto heads who can't form our own ideas. Because if we were open minded, flexible and clearminded with our thoughts, we would agree with the liberals. Its funny how all the march in step liberals, with their hatred of labels, love to call us dittoheads as they throw at cliches and labels like candy. My new favorite is how the Republicans are a culture of corruption.

And yes, I do think its dangerous that liberals want to weaken our stance, while our enemies admittedly line up against us. I also find it curious that a vast majority of the military, the only people that really know whats going on, line up behind the war and the president. Who are you to decide what stepping in and doing whats right means? Oh right, only you guys have independent thought. If we don't agree with you of whats right and wrong, its because we don't allow you your own opinions.

My opinions are based on what i think is right. Last I checked, I havent shot any liberals or abortion doctors. And my post was a direct quote from Bin laden Laden himself, saying the resistance from the antiwar people motivated him to speak. IN my opinion, i find this dangerous and detrimental to what is occurring over there. But since you don't agree, that means I don't allow you your opinion. And you talk about respecting opinions as if you respect the opinions of the extreme crazies and their hate-speech.

To me , I think you have the hatred a little backwards.

Im not going to rehash the whole for/against Iraq war thing again but you have to be naive if you think that the guys we are fighting in Iraq right now would be shoemakers or bankers or lawyers if we weren't there. If we weren't fighting them there, we would be fighting them somewhere else. They are extremist insurgents and were born and bred to be nothing else. And they are part of a movement that started way before the Iraq war, and has more to do with our support of Israel than anything else.

I'm not saying we needed to go to iraq to fight them. Im saying its incidental where it is, because we would probably be suffering the same casualties somewhere else, even if we weren't there. The reason we attacked in the first place is one discussion. This is a whole different war now. One that couldn't be avoided and would have been fought somewhere else if we werent there.

Yerdaddy is once again describing my thoughts on this whole situation. It should be mentioned that we as a people have turned away from a society of ideas, debate, and innovation and have been swept away by corporate greed and the military industrial complex that Eisenhower warned us about after WWII. Believe it or not, war isn't the answer for every, no check that, most situations. And most Dems right now don't believe we should just drop out of Iraq, but rather bring in the UN and other nations to help solidify and strenghten the nation. Oh my god I must be a commie huh? It's the greed of our corps like Halliburton and Bechtel, along with those politicians making huge financial gains in terms of kickbacks and contributions that truly won't allow this to happen. Don't be so naive to believe the reasons/excuses the Bush admin puts out there. If we really wanted this country to get on its feet, why couldn't we use more of their own work force to drive the trucks and supplies across the country as opposed to US contractors who get payed insane rates. Ironic too since these same companies can't seem to pay workers a decent wage in the US any longer and NEED the Mexican and lower cost workers. The sad thing is that with the little we've actually done in Iraq probably trumps what has been accomplished here at home in terms of building schools, infrastructure, hospitals and the like.

Under Bush the rich get tax cuts, the middle class and poor get programs cut, and due to privatization and the philosophy of the extreme right, profits come before people. How else can Bush claim the economic year of 2005 was great when we lost jobs, those that were created lowered our standard of living for the 5th straight year, salaries aren't even keeping up with inflation but instead decreasing, countless high level jobs are going over seas, big corporations barely pay taxes but claim US subsidies and the Bush admin made this process easier for them! Simple, he based it on corporate profit. So how many of you out there see these corporations helping you out? Sure they donated some money, my company as well, to the huricane victims, but this is where the government should have stepped up and didn't.

I could go on and on, but wtf? I like to debate the issues and can't claim to be as informed as some of you out there. But how do so many middle-class people get convinced to vote against their own best interest? Case and point, WV miners and their families. They were worried that the Bush campaign was right and if Kerry was elected they would lose their jobs since the mines wouldn't be able to function. Yet now they aren't protected as they should be and the person in charge of mine safety used to lobby for the mining industry and is tied to ownership in multiple ways!! How the fuck can this be legal? I just don't get it people. It's like watching a loved one (the United States) die a slow death in a nursing home. We need a huge change yesterday!

It's like a koala bear crapped a rainbow in my brain!

[quote]"Are you moderate conservatives ever going to begin to see a problem with this shit? Will you wait until the extremist crazies on your side start shooting liberals at random like abortion doctors before you step in and inject some sanity into the public debate? I can try all my fucking life to argue facts and evidence and the logical falacies involved in this kind of ideological hate-speech but it means nothing because so much the far right, like this guy, have come to feel that I, and people who don't dogmaticly share their ideology, are traitors and are inherently evil and whose opinions are not to be respected ever, but it will mean nothing until YOU conservatives step in and do what's right. "
Wow, someone took a little too many paranoid pills today.

Thank you again for making my point. Because you didn't want to have an honest discussion in the first place you've cherry-picked my post in order to misrepresent what I said, forming a straw man that you can then attack.

I clearly differentiated between conservatives of principle who debate issues honestly because they have a common respect for others' opinions and understand that honest debate is essential for understanding truth and maintaining a healthy democracy, and those, like you, who debate to silence and demonize nonconformers to your political orthodoxy.

It should be painfully obvious to anyone that the accusation you made that liberals and opponents of the war motivate Bin Laden's actions could be just as easily used to say that the war in Iraq itself motivates him because his stated primary motivation for every terrorist attack that he's conducted is US military presence on Muslim lands; so an increased presence inspires him. That would be a more plausible point to make simply because it's been made by US military generals and Bush administration officials. But your insterest clearly isn't in understanding the best policies our country should take to win the war on terrori

I think the best way to prevent another terrorist attack is to criticise the president. Maybe even circulate some e-mail with pictures of him, comparing them to pictures of monkeys. After all, the 9/11 attack was his fault as was the attack on the U.S. Cole.

Everyone knows that we are incapable of maintaining a man-hunt for Osama while fighting a war. That would require doing two things at once and Lord knows we can't do that. If Clinton could be re-elected everything would be much better. Osama would shake his hand and say, "I'm sorry. I was wrong." Then he would donate all of the bin Laden fortune to the Clinton library.

Impeach W! He mispronounces things and that makes him dangerous!

But your insterest clearly isn't in understanding the best policies our country should take to win the war on terrorism, but to demonize Americans who dont' share your opinions. That was clear in your original post, and in what I pointed out in mine.

I never advocated conservatives must agree with liberal points of view. All but a couple of people who read this will know exactly who I'm talking about and what I'm trying to get across to you. Why is it that you can't even tell the difference between them and yourself? Fuck i

Thankfully one of the last people i'm worrying about getting approval from is you. I give a rats ass about your opinions and trust me, care as little about your leftist propaganda as you do about my posts. Your blind hatred for anyone conservatiive makes it impossible for you to see their point as your constant referrals to moderate conservatives, however the fuck you define that means. In case you haven't noticed, I've had no problem whatsoever carrying on discussions with the normal liberals on the board. My only attacks are basically from you and a handful of people, like you, that choose to attack what they don't agree with. In case you can't recall, your diatribe of crap came after I quoted Bin laden in what I thought backed up my feelings that people such as yourself have ill affect on our situation. Which resulted in a 5 paragraph response of horsehit, calling my post hatred while you once again got on your soapbox preaching ho wdangerous conservatives are, and how we are ruining everything, and the liberals have no outlet to stop us and basically we are the ruination of America. And Im the damn cliche? I can turn on Bill Maher and hear the same shit as you on TV. YOur F'en sigpic shows your hatred for the right. Nothing to do with what your talking about? I explained my position at nasaum as my opinion and yet I get the same bullshit attacks from you as I always get, saying Im not addressing the issues. It was you who went on a tangent and attacked me and my crediblity. Is that what you are trying to get accross? How should I respond to the fact that you despise conservatives? And by saying bullshit like I demonize liberals doesnt let you off the hook.Well once again you dragged me off topic and are going to repond again how I dont address the issues but who cares? When I do, you tell me im full of shit, and most of your posts are attacks against me "Like this guy" I've been reading your shit for years and youve never had a civil debate with anyone conservative anyway. People like you have driven them off the board or out of the political forum. They are the sensible ones.Im the asshole wasting my time talking to you.
I am not part of any percentage.
Yes, that's exactly what happened with the south tower.

As per Wikipedia:

The north tower, 1 WTC, was struck at 8:46:26 am and collapsed at 10:28:31 am, standing for 102 minutes and 5 seconds. The south tower, 2 WTC, was struck at 9:02:54 am and collapsed at 9:59:04 am, 56 minutes and 10 seconds later. A combination of three factors allowed the north tower to remain standing longer: the region of impact was higher (so the gravity load on the most damaged area was lighter); the speed of the airplane was lower (so there was less impact damage); and the affected floors had had their fire proofing partially upgraded. Also, the hottest part of the fire in the south tower burned near a corner of the building and apparently led to a sudden bursting of bolts in that section, while the failures in the north tower core involved slower creep and softening effects. [4]

The two towers collapsed in markedly different ways, indicating that there were in fact two modes of failure. The north tower collapsed directly downwards, "pancaking" in on itself, while the south tower fell at an angle during which the top 20 or so stories of the building remained intact for the first few seconds of the collapse, then pulverized into dust in mid-air, and the tower then continued straight down.

Subsequent modeling suggests that in the north tower the internal trusses supporting the building's concrete floors failed as a result of heat-induced warping. This placed additional stress on the bunched core columns, which themselves were losing integrity from both impact damage and heat. When the core columns gave out on one of the impact floors, this floor collapsed into the floor below. Once the collapse started, it was unstoppable; the huge mass of the falling structure had sufficient momentum to act as a battering ram, smashing through all the intact floors below. This theory is supported by witnesses from within the tower stating they heard "something like a heavy freight train approaching". There is some visual evidence that it was the core that collapsed first. It can be seen in videos that the large antenna, which was built on top of the core, starts downward a fraction of a second earlier than the rest of the building.

In the south tower, heat warping weakened the single-bolt connections between the floorplates and the initially intact external columns surrounding the impact hole, effectively creating a "hangman's drop" for that portion of the building above the point of failure. Eventually, the gravity load on these bolts increased beyond the breaking point as the joints, floorplates and columns weakened. Again, the momentum of the collapsing structure was sufficient to smash everything below it.

The most sophisticated internal air defense system in the world that we spend billions of dollars on cannot get on the horn to the military about 4 commercial airliners going way off course and cutting communication, all in the same morning?

Given the memory of the USS Vincennes mistakenly shooting down a civilian Iranian airliner in July 1988, I'm sure the military was understandably less than trigger-happy about targeting civilian aircraft.
