A little late, I suppose, but if anyone's watching the Skins-Bucs game and wants to comment, here's a thread for it.

On the line:

Skins win - Fez and East Side Dave get their head shaved. Fez pays for a train ticket ride to NY for Elfish and lets him stay at his apartment.

Bucs win - Elfish and Cigar Sid pay their own way to NY and get their heads shaved in the studio

Current score: Redskins 17, Buccaneers 10

If the Bucs start playing smarter they'd win this fucking game easy! Big fumble, int, and many dumb fucking plays like the fair catch inside the ten.

Taylor has always been a hot head. It's the only thing holding back his tremendous talent. I wish I could say I was surprised.
I am shocked that Brunell made such an incredibly stupid decision. He's been much smarter than that all season.
i know the ref said he was in the process of catching and falling to the ground but to me it seemed like he caught it , took 1 and half to two steps then started to fall and his knee hit before the ball came out, i think it should have been a catch and a fumble , recovered by tampa in the end zone and a touchdown

Yeah, it was. I fucking hate these announcers though. The Redskins stepped up huge evrytime they had to, but they couldn't shut up about the Bucs defense. They said the Bucs O-line played great, despite three sacks and throws be tipped all day long. Awful, as usual.
So, of the other four NFC teams left in the play-offs, the Redskins have already beaten three of them this season (Chicago, Seattle, the Giants) - they did not play the Panthers. Of course, the Giants did whip our ass good earlier, but that was before they discovered an identity. I'm REALLY loving this win and this team, and feel that with a strong defense and smart use of Portis we COULD run the table...but I will never, ever, ever feel comfortable or confident. Too much can turn on a dime at the wrong moment. The last 13 years or so have broken any cocky, ye olde school Redskins entitlement i might have once had.

Someone called JFK tonight with some interesting info about Seattle. Eleven of the games they played were against teams that were under 500. Of the 3 teams they beat (that had winning records), they barely beat the Giants, barely beat the Cowboys, and beat an Indianapolis team that was using their second string players.

I feel very good about the Skins chances next week. And to think... somewhere around week 4 or 5 I picked the Superbowl to be between the Skins and the Bengals! It just may happen.

Is Mike Patrick the worst NFL annoucer? The game was frustrating enough as it was without that confused hack. He was as bad as Keith Jackson at the Rose Bowl.

I had to flip the tv audio off at some point and listen to the radio, but I hate Larry Michaels, so then I just kept it on mute and listened to Fungus. I was a complete mental patient during the game, i was driving myself nuts.

Poor Fezzie, his Bucs lost again and I was really rooting for them too. I may live in the Dc area but I refuse to root for the deadskins. Look like I will be rooting for the Seahawks next week and I don't even like the Seahawks but I will root for whoever can kick the deadskins butt or at least try to. Well, that's my 2-cents on this subject. seeeeeeeeee-yahhhh.

PS: No offense to my fellow DC posters, but I'm sorry guys I just can't root for the Home team.

quote:
PS: No offense to my fellow DC posters, but I'm sorry guys I just can't root for the Home team.
[/quote]No offense taken. However, speaking for fans, it gets to be an annoyingly tough town to be in with SO MANY people so quick to tell you how they aren't Redskins fans. So many transplants - there are sports bars everywhere that cater to OTHER professional football teams on Sundays. I don't really have a problem with it - to each their own, and I know I wouldn't suddenly change teams if I moved out of the area. I'm just thrilled that finally, after so long, the faithful have something they can be proud about again.

Unlike a lot of people I meet here in Washington, I'm not a late in life transplant. DC has been home since 8 months old, and the Skins have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Yeah, they've made it very tough to be a fan the last decade-plus (actually, the midget owner has made it tough), and I have my own personal conflicts over the name, and an entire generation of kids have grown up in this town only knowing them as sub-par underachievers - BUT - there is nothing else in this town that unites so many people. Old, young, black, white, rich, poor, all the non-transiant folk really rally around this team. Until the Nationals showed up last year I didn't think anything else would make that kind of deep connection.
