While I do think the Rangers will be improved, I'm not sure there's going to be enough room in the very tight Eastern conference.

Of the eight playoff spots, there should be four or five automatics: The Devils, Flyers, Leafs, and either one or both of the Capitals and the Senators.

That probably leaves three spots to be fought for by the much improved Islanders, the Bruins, Sabres, Hurricanes, and Rangers, in my opinion.

I'm going to count out the Lightning, Penguins, Canadiens, Panthers, and Thrashers for the sake of argument.

Unless a few teams take nosedives, or the Rangers have a <u>monster</u> season, I think the Garden might be a lonely place for the fifth spring in a row (for hockey anyway - the Knicks will be there).
