On tuesday night around 3 am i get woken up by my mom freaking out....

There's
water gushing into my apartment from what turned out to be a broken
pipe....it completely wiped out the apartment next to mine (they had to
be completely moved out) and wrecked mine pretty good.... We had to be
moved out for a few days so the carpets, floor boards, linoleum etc
could all be replaced...

We just got back this morning to find
the place in chaos...everything is out of place, things are
disconnected, clothes are everywhere, random boxes are all over the
place...

And to top it all off, the douchebag management at my
job won't let me take off for today, they basically threatened me and
my dad (we work at the same place) into coming in today....

Still though, I'm thankful everyone is safe, including my kitty cats, I guess things could be a lot worse...

I hope hope hope you have renters insurance. This happened at my Dad's apartment, right after I moved to NJ and was still storing stuff in his basement. I lost almost all of my clothing and some really expensive pairs of shoes. So I got renter's insurance for the apartment I'm in now, so I'd be covered. Glad the kitties and your family are ok.

I think we have renter's insurance, im not sure, my mother is
dealing with those people on that front....(i still live with my
parents at age 22 unfortunately)...We didnt get hit as bad as the other
people...their chihuahua dog started to float away but they got her out
of there...

We didn't really have a lot of expensive stuff anyway, cause
we're pretty poor, most of the damage was to the carpets and the
floors, which have already been replaced....

Thank god the
maintenance showed up and turned off the valve when they did, cause the
water had just started to creep into my room, and most of my stuff is
on the floor (about 95% of my books and my bed)

sorry to hear about your trouble. it's bad when it happens anytime of year but probably worse around this time. good luck with getting things back in order!
