View Full Version : What Are You Listening To?

I know there was a thread about this back in March, but I think that it's time for a new discussion about it.

So what have you been listening to on your iPod, MP3 player, Cd player, computer, etc. lately?

Myself, I've been listening to a lot of Weezer and Foo Fighers. With Weezer, I've pretty much been concentrating on their Blue Album and Make Believe, with some good songs from their other albums. With the Foos, I've pretty much been listening to a playlist of my favorite songs.

I've also just started my first listen to James Blunt's album. So far, I'm liking it. I've especially liked You're Beautiful, if only because I've felt the same feelings that Blunt does in the song when he saw an old lover, and mourned that he will never be with her again.

I think I'll have to download one of the albums.

I never heard of Jeff Buckley until I got iTunes and saw that his songs are on virtually every celebrity playlist by artists who write their own music. So I got Grace and like it. Although I think I prefer Rufus Wainwright's version of Hallelujah to Jeff's version.

Wilco- Kicking Television live in Chicago (Great starting point for new listeners of Wilco. I was at the Saturday show when they recorded this)

Drive By Truckers- The Dirty South (Where else can you find songs about Buford Pusser, moonshining, threats to the ATF, John Henry, and Sun Records)

Ron and Fez (I am a new listener since they hit XM so I have been listening to the old files from this site)

The Kinks (Waterloo Sunset is still one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded)

Naked Raygun- Free Shit (Great live record from a great Chicago punk band. Recorded at reunion shows in the late '90s. They sound a good as I remember them being years earlier)
I'm not a bad person, I just do bad things.

DECADENCE by HeadAutomatica. I really think this band is unique. Poppy and, somehow, still agressive. The singer sounds like a cross between Mike Patton and Mike Patton.

FAMILY FORCE 5. Exactly like Rage Against The Machine but, without the politcal agenda. With a little Beastie Boys on the side.

COLLISION COURSE by Linkin Park and JayZ. I think it kicks ass. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go get my flame resistant blanket.

The Aristocrats "soundtrack". Some of that shit is just so damn funny.

and, of course, my usual diet of Cheap Trick, Queen, SWEET, The Cars, Marvelous 3 and Jellyfish.

The iPod allows you to carry your entire music library (assuming that you have a 30 gig or higher) with you anywhere.
