An old man co-worker of mine has a wife that lost her cell phone today, and he called and the person that found the phone said they found it in Costco and they had the phone with them in Freeport.  He thanked them and said he wanted to come by after work to pick up the phone.  He told me about it and I said I would go along with him (just in case) because he was old (and Freeport is known for being richly populated by blacks and hispanic people). So anyway...  After work we head to his house and then take one car down to Freepo' and Im along as muscle.  He is worried that the people might have used the phone to call Santo Domingo or something, and told him I thought it was unlikely because why would they give us their address?  He was being just a little paranoid, but at the same time, he wondered what kind of reward he should give them.  I told him I thought $20 was a fine tip, and he put a 20 in his shirt pocket.  He also wanted me to check out the phone to see if calls were made, because he doesnt know how they work. We find the house and it wasnt bad looking at all and we sheepishly approach it and knock on the door.  A Spanish woman answers and invites us in and they seemed like a fine young family and they had a tidy house and I didnt feel even slightly that we were in any danger.  He thanks them and they hand him the phone and he tries to give the man the tip, and at first the guy was refusing but eventually relented, and the old man handed me the phone and said "check it out".  I just looked at the phone and could feel that the old man wanted me to see if calls were made but I said I thought it was ok, and that we should leave, which we did.  As we are getting back in his car and he is like, "Why didnt you look? You stood there like a dummy".  I was like, "Are you kidding me?  Right in front of them??  You could see they were descent people...", and I checked out the phone and saw that no calls were made and everything was fine.  As we are heading back he admitted he was wrong and misjudged them and apoligised for what he said.  I was a little scared too, being out of my element, but I saw right off the bat that they were upstanding. But now my whole office knows I went along as "muscle" and I am pretty sure that tomorrow I will look good in a lot of eyes for going along with the old guy as protection, even thought it wasnt needed. <img height="178" src="http://www.mactyre.net/archives/pbem/ggg/PRIMUS_files/protector.jpg" width="151" border="0" />
