i loved Seven Samurai, but the images from Dreams have really stuck with me. I'm a little behind on my Kurosawa though
Man, these are all great, but my personal favorite is this awesome little noir film he did call Stray Dog.

All great - went with Rashomon, simply because i love it whenever a film becomes more than itself.

Seven Samurai is one of my top 3 films of all time. Some of Kurosawa's greats that I would have had on the list are: Sanjuro, Ikiru, and Throne of Blood. I still haven't had the opportunity to see any of his gangster pictures though, like Stray Dog. I have found 2 Kurosawa DVDs here in the ME, but I'm still looking for the more obscure ones.

The great thing about Kurosawa's films is that most, if not ALL of them, are put out through Criterion DVD, and they're still in print. Sure, a new Criterion is gonna run you $30-$40 each time, but it's fucking worth it. There's no better DVD company out there than Criterion.

Yerdaddy, if you want me to burn and send you a copy of Stray Dog, PM or e-mail me your mailing address.

Coolest thing I found out about Kurosawa is, as a classically trained artist, he had an extensive background in painting before he became a filmmaker. So when he would sketch his storyboards they would often become beautiful watercolor canvases, just to plan a single shot.

Yerdaddy, if you want me to burn and send you a copy of Stray Dog, PM or e-mail me your mailing address.

You SURE about that offer???

Because if so, I'd want to pick a few obscure titles from your collection in order to make it worthwhile.
