In case you don't know what the hell this thread is about...

I, for one, am real excited about this program. This is a MAJOR coup for XM and I'm sure the folks at Sirius are none too happy about it.

This is going to be an awesome show and bring a lot of new subscribers to XM.

"Paul McCartney confessed that Bob Dylan turned The Beatles on to marijuana. In a return, George Harrison turned Dylan on to looking old and haggard."

Hmm, interesting. That's a very large name for XM to get to host a show. Sirius has a lot of lower level people sign on a while back like Richard Simmons. Who cares about him? Dylan is a huge name and that will get heat on XM for it. I love it.

Honestly, I think you'll get old stories from Bob Dylan interspresed with music he picks. If so, I think it'll be a really good show that'll give some cool insight into the music industrry over the last 40 years... if we can understand a single thing he says.
It is going to happen, tho, and the new mega-company will be just as dull and safe as Infinity or Clear Channel, and they will be playiing commercials everywhere to pay for this star talent.

I can't tell you how disappointed i am with some of this. Not Dylan specifically, but just the "upping the anty" with big names to program stations. I had a lot of hope that satallite radio would be an avenue local shows around the country could be instantly syndicated - like Liddy, or what's on 152.

Maybe it's just me, but I could give a rat's ass if Dylan, Emenem, Little Steven, Bowie or any other name programs a station. I'd take WOXY, Mikeyboy, Ogre, Mojo, or a random spin of my ipod any day in their place.

Pffffft!

I'd rather have hope in my soul than soap in my hole...

The real question is when the two companies merge what will be the name? Is it " XM for Sirius, dude" or "Sirusly, dude... XM".

I'm sure Dylan won't talk much and just stick to playing music that influenced him, mostly old folk and blues artists. I'd check it out.

As far as XM and Sirius merging, I doubt it'll ever happen. They're kind of like HBO and Showtime. I do see there being a system somewhere down the road that lets you get both, however.

I'm not as big a fan of Bob Dylan as many of you on this board, even though I ghostwrote that entire cd (all five voices on 4track 1987) Travelling Wilburys Vol 1 (NONE of vol 3). I'll introduce you to the Nashville musician who IS a true Dylan fan who inspired me to ghostwrite for many rock stars, and challenge myself.Kenny Mullins kennymullins.com . I used to drive him to many gigs because he lost his license permanently in Delaware for DWI/DUI in the 80's.He was my mentor in musical things, people, history etc,yet never graduated high school. He 's a rebel and has only mellowed in the last 5 or so years in his late 40's. His music is his own, folk, country ,rock and 20 different styles, but always touched by the spirit of Dylan. He's worth checking out.http://www.kennymullins.com/merch.html
