what kind of an american roots for Germany over his home country?

Its not like, "hey i live on Long Island but i'm a Rangers fan."

I got a soft spot in my heart for Ireland but i would always want to see the US team beat the crap out of them, our team has sucked for so long and now they're finally starting to come around, its exciting.

I went to the qualifier in East Hartford vs. Trinidad & Tobago so I'm definitely looking forward to it. Nice to see Trinidad & Tobago get in via the play-in. The US is ranked 8th in the world so I'm looking forward to them making some noise and even having a shot at winning the whole thing.

i watched my first world cup back in '02 and loved it. i don't know
that much about soccer, but i'll be checking it out again next year.
from what i understand though, it looks like the US is going to have a
really tough first round
If the US and Mexico were to play each other it wouldn't be until the semifinals, possibly on July 4. Hopefully the soccer gods will smile upon this.

For the US their only hope is beating Ghana and Italy although Italy will be a tough task. I would write off your chances of beating the Czch republic the climate in germany next summer will be playing right into their hands. The biggest hope for the US is beating Italy who are famous or slipping up in the early rounds of knock out competitions. I would treat Ghana as a certian win.

As far as England go I see no problems for us. Swedan, MAYBE is the biggest game we will play although Trinidad and Tabago will always raise their game when playin England and their players will no doubt be playing for contracts in the Premier League. Paraquay are a cracking team with exellent youth team coaching but I think (coupled with the cold climate) the 2006 world cup will be just one step too far for thir young team. Altough I do see bright things for them in the future.

I am personally pleased we didn't draw the USA as I would like to play them in a later round of the competition. I am also pleases we didn't draw Australia as the intense spoting rivalry between the two nations would get in he way of the actual game.

All in all it was a fantastic dtaw for England but a sticky yet winnable one for the US.

My tip for winners is the Czech Republic. If a fit Pavel Neved is playing at the centre of their midfield with Milan Baros up front they will be unstoppable. If England get to the semi finals it's anyone's compeition. We have a solid defence two great strikers in Rooney and Owen and the best midfield in the world with Joe Cole on the left Beckham on the right and Gerrard and Lampard as defensive and attacking midielders our only sticking point is our goal keper Paul Robinson whos a great keeper but lacks the big tournament experiance that is needed at this level

Lets wait and see. I personally can not wait!!!
