The Yanks have one... I just returned to this board, the Mets are the team that are making the noise!!!!Let's recap shall we...1. Exercised the 2006 option of SP Steve Trachsel; Declined the options on CL Braden Looper and 1B Doug Mientkiewicz. 2. Did not exercise options on Pitchers Felix Heredia and Kazuhisa Ishii 3. Xavier Nady for Mike Cameron (not EQUAL value but cost-cutting, Floyd unhappy). 4. Signed RP Matt Perisho to a minor league contract. 5. Acquired first baseman Carlos Delgado and cash from the Florida Marlins in exchange for 1B Mike Jacobs, blue chipper Yusmeiro Petit and minor league 3B Grant Psomas. 6. Acquired outfielder Tike Redman from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for cash. 7. Signed prized CL Billy Wagner. 8. Acquired catcher Paul Lo Duca from the Florida Marlins on Monday in exchange for 19 year old phenom Gaby Hernandez and a player to be named later....Now let's work on speculation...--Can we finally move Kaz? Send him back to Japan for all I care. BUY OUT HIS CONTRACT ALREADY!--Rumor is that Sammy Sosa might be here, do you want him here? i listened to espn radio yesterday and steve philips (take THAT for what its worth) said beane will wait for the other 3 big name pitchers to sign and then get more for zito. i'd like him here, but at what price? if oakaland keeps him it'll just be for this year anyway. so we can keep milledge and get him next year. if zito goes it probably won't be till january.

maybe we can deport kaz back to japani dont want sammy sosafuck kris benson we overpaid for his ass anyway and his wife ain't that hoti would love zito but i would like to keep milledge if possible because as of right now we have no one for rf other then diaz and/or nadyi wouldn't mind some more bullpen help but i guess we can survive for nowespn is reporting that the mets will sign 47 yr old julio franco to be a backup for delgado and be a pinch hitter of the bench

yeah he's old but the guy can still play. he's in better shape than most guys half his age. his goal is to play to 50. ill keep him on the bench to spell delgado at times and provide a better glove in late innings.

And Franco isn't better than Delgado at first.  Carlos isn't that fucking bad people.  He scoops the ball nicely on bad throws, yet has only average range and that's why he fucking plays first base people.  I'm not big on the Franco till 50 move either.  I'd rather mix in a little youth here and there to spell the stars and vets.  That's if the Mets have many left at this point.  I believe they all play in Florida right now.

All this talk about giving up Milledge bothers me to no end.  If this guy is as good as they're touting, you can't give him up.  The way I see it, next year, when Floyd is gone, Milledge will be ready for centerfield and Beltran moves to left.  Then, depending on what Diaz does this year, could you imagine that outfield.  Let's not jump the gun on Zito like they did with Benson.  Wait on him.  Now Vasquez is a different story.  Benson for Vasquez straight up, maybe with some low to mid-level prospect.  But not Milledge...unless Manny is involved.

Why in Gods name would you want Wright batting SIXTH? I will stab Randolph in the heart with a dull butter knife is he bats Wright sixth (I may do it to you for suggesting it). He may be a top ten hitter in all of baseball this year. The kid does nothing but hit scortching line drives to every field. I rather see Beltran hit eight then Wright sixth.

i am loving all the moves the mets are doing... franco is a good sub plus he is an above average pinch hitter when needed.. we need to fill the void that was created when anderson signed with the nationals....  fuck sosa, fuck tejada we don't need them at all...  wright needs to bat with some protection so they can't pitch around him.... no matter what someone's ego is going to need to be kept in check with this line up...    lets go mets.....  and leave heilman and milage(sp) alone...

We're becomming the spanish Yankees.. THAT bothers me. Keep Reyes, Keep Benson and start lookn for bullpen help ... We're the New York Mets, not Los Mets.... We need to stay young. Suffer in right field for a year an put Millage there next year. MY preference was Molina at catcher but hey, we gave up crap for LoDuca for 2 years. Zito in the offseason would be a great acquisition .... The Mets have a great rotation, Martinez,Glavine,Benson,Trachsel and who cares .... To me thats enough to get us places in the playoffs....

It was a suggestion.I wanted to keep Beltran near the top of the lineup because he has more speed than Wright, that was my main factor in leaving Wright down in the lineup and Beltran near the top.

Viva los Nueva York Metropolitanos !!!!!!I'm not so sure that the mets rotation is greatMartinez was great and is still close enough to being great but he's isn't the pedro from his early sawx daysGlavine hasn't been anywhere close to the pitcher he was with Atlanta but he did pitch better last year and maybe with a better lineup this year he'll improve again.Benson was okay in Pittsburgh and at times last year showed enough to be a solid number three but unless his wife shuts up and he pitches better he might be getting shipped out.Trachsel is decent as a number 4 and has always pitched well since coming to the mets.It's a pretty good rotation but not great and probably good enough with our offense to win the division but St. Louis is coming back with pretty much the same team and Houston still has Oswalt, Pettite, and Backe and Clemens will probably come back after may 1st so even as a Mets fan I can't say we have a great rotation when there are better ones out there in our own league.

Dude, it drove me NUTS that they kept him in the six hole the first half of last year. He is there best hitter, bar none, including Delgado. He hits line drives 3/4 ab per game, with power. If he worked out over the winter, some of those frozen rope outs are going off the wall, or over. He has potential to hit .340 with 35 hr's and, batting third in this lineup, 140 rbi.

I shucked it, and I shucked it, and I shucked it, i'm quite the mother shucker I understand your point and I would love to see Wright up (he's our Blalock/Teixeira) but I was thinking along the lines of Willie Randolph, I still he'll keep it pretty much the lineup I set unless we make dramatic alterations in the coming months.

but notice that looper signed on to be a set up man no one in all of mlb thought he was good enough to be a closer even in a closer thin market.i hope he fucks up as much in the clutch as he did in new york

i dont think anyone in their right mind would sign with the royals unless it was a last resort and if the mets did make an offer and he still went to kc then he is just crazyas for looper there was no way he'd come back we didnt want him around and then to be relegated to being a setup man on the team that you used to be the closer would be tough and every night wagner saved a tough or tight game would constantly be a reminder of what he couldnt do

Its been a couple of weeks since ANY news came out of our Los Mets camp ... a tad dissaponting no? Who the hell is gonna fill out bullpen .... cause right now the only biggest sign was a minor league contract to darin oliver .... I guess Los Mets will be looking to out-homer their apponents and hope to god that Wagner and Heilman's arms won't fall off with the amount of innings they will be counted on .... again, we start Spring Training with no bullpen - AKA huge question mark !!

Sanchez's statsI dont see it. Combine his walks and hits
and you have more than a baserunner per inning pitched. Strikeouts are
good, in 12 save opportunites he blew 4. Thats 1/3 of his attempts.
Again, I dont see it. Maybe they think he'll be better as a set
up man than closer, but I wouldn't trade Seo for this guy. Seo was one
of their best pitchers for a stretch last year.

I sound like a yankees fan, yes I want the Mets to win and to pursue talent that can help the team(as long as they stay off the juice). if Barry Zito is the best free agent next season It wouldnt hurt for the Mets to go after him. With the recent trade of Jay Seo we need decent picthing and I dont see that coming from Victor Zambrano. And for the guys who hate the fact that the Mets are taking a page out of the yankees budget book, I never mention trading Langston Miledge, David Wright, Jose Reyes or even Aaron Heilman. I just thought that adding Barry Zito to this team would make the team better.Stop worrying about the Yankees and focus on Mets baseball Dammit.

i would love to have zito but why give up prospects when you can get him as a free agent, just because we trade for him doesnt mean he'll stay and he could leave after the season a la mike hampton a few years agoas of right now we have a platoon in right with nady/diaz, beltran and floyd in center and left, respectively but floyd wont be around for much longer and nady/diaz are only temporary unless diaz becomes the next man ram like people have said, so i would like to keep lastings and see what he can do

I'd rather wait till the offseason to get Zito. We have Lastings... thats it ... I'd love to see him in a Mets uniform. If that means a season where we just make the playoffs and keep him.. great.  I think trading Seo was a bad move. He made progress, why not trade Zambrano. Everyone know's he's a dud and Phillips screwed up by trading for him. I hope he helps us in the bullpen, cause I wouldn't want him in the rotation. Martinez,Glavine,Benson,Trachsel, sign a free agent here.... what other "high profile" free agent relievers are there that are left, Julian Tavarez ? If we can sign him, put Heilman back in the rotation

Nady is supposed to be a pretty good player though so i think it's a coin flip with that.I guess now it's time to see if Heilman can actually start in the big leagues, i personally dont think he can and I think he was a flash in the pan last year.  Hopefully Minaya can pull something off with oakland.  We Shall See

On the other hand our bullpen is fucking stacked now.yeah, with rightys. wagner is the only lefty....maybe john franco will be available.you know this move was a salary dump. no way was he worth 15.5 mil, especially with his wife embarassing the organization every time she opened her cock holster she calls a mouth.

I liked the trade for Delgado. I thought it was a really good move to
go after LoDuca than spend a shitload on Hernandez. Hell, I could even
live with the Cameron for Nady move. This is by far the worst move
Minaya has made on the Mets. Julio blows and Maine will never become
more than a 4 guy. What the fuck ever happened to the Benson for
MacDougal/Affeldt trade...

i also liked the delgado trade as it will prob help beltran but i dont like either trade of our starters ( seo and benson) for medicore bullpen helpi know there's a large contigent of spanish, mexican, and latino people in the new york area but this is getting ridiculous, i'm surprised he traded for the italian lo duca instead of signing molina or hernandez. i guess minaya liked the puerto rican expos experiment and decided to bring it to the big apple or should i say el grande manzana or maybe they should just rename the team the new york latinos or nueva york latinos

Wagner was one of the luckiest pitchers I've ever seen and the speed on his fastball is diminishing. I still think he's an upgrade for the Mets, but dont expect the numbers from last year.
