I hate to be one of those "i miss the attitude era" guys. But do we remember Sable's bikini? Marlena fellating cigars?Trish in bra and panties? Barking like a dog? Litas live sex celebration? Well you know why they shit all over Jarret right? When he left for WCW he found out his cotract expired the night before the PPV where he had to drop the IC belt to Chyna. Basically he made Vince pay him like a years salary to work that one night or he was gonna take the IC Belt to Nitro.

Its one thing to be predictable. We all new it was gonna be Rock / Cena, HHH / Brock and Taker / Punk for awhile now. But they arent even creative about it. You have the Undertaker come out on the ramp to start Raw and then go back in? How awful. Im convinced I could do a better job writing for this fucking company. CM Punk is going after Undertaker to hurt the fans? Because its their fault he lost? Thats the best they could come up with? Horrendous.
Tonights Raw sucked camel dick. The best part about the whole show for me was The Rock burying Lance Armstrong. They still keep jobbing out Ziggler to no end. This time making him tap out. Wow.
Fandangos career is already over. Just like Brodus Clay. 2 more future "stars" whose careers the WWE has robbed.
Ill tell you another thing, I was expecting Cena cheers tonight being it was in Buffalo, and even I was shocked he barely got 50/50 and they got a very vocal CENA SUCKS chant going. I cannot wait to see how bad they rip this guy when he comes to NY.
I dont know how they did it, but they wound up taking a Wrestlemania featuring The Rock, Brock Lesnar, HHH, CM Punk, John Cena, and The Undertaker, and somehow made me not even a little excited to watch it. Thats fucking amazing actually.

They say the thing Vince hates most is when people go back on their word. Thats why he had such a problem with Luger too. Luger had told him he was re-signing, then just popped up on Nitro. I believe theres a clip from that same Raw where McMahon makes referance to Luger as well.

I thought the diverticulitis was deemed the actual cause of death though. Not saying the drugs had nothing to do with it or maybe caused help to be delayed, I just thought that was the cause. I mean, from what weve seen it seems hard to figure out what the problem is with that disease.

To be fair, they gave him shitty story telling. Having him be destroyed by Kane and being involved in the Eve/Cena love triangle. I think WWE said "hey, here ya go, here is a taste of the big time". Then, they took it all away just as fast, to sorta say "we can push you, then unpush you just like that! Now, shut up"

Months of build up, video packages, cool theme music, he finally appears eveeyone goes nuts and day fucking 1 within 3minutes of coming out they have the #1 guy at the time who is 2nd to none on the mic when hes on his game (which rock was at that point) cut him down and make him look silly.

Of course! You got guys busting ass to get on tv, and into the PPV. This part timer gets everything handed to him.
According to PWInsider.com (via WrestlingInc.com):
Many people backstage at RAW were talking about WWE Champion The Rock not being there. Several of The Rock's co-workers are upset at the fact that he's not going to be in attendance for 2 of the last big 4 shows going into WrestleMania 29. There was already some resentment over him being in the WrestleMania main event again but him not being there each week isn't helping things.

In all honesty, they seem to be alternating his appearances with Lesnars and Takers. I think thats why this weeks show was so good. It focused on the Taker / Punk feud. Lesnar / HHH was kind of put on the back burner and they didnt focus on The Rock or Cena for a show. This is another reason why I wish Cena would just take a 6 month break. It would be nice to not have the whole fucking show focus on his boring ass.

3 weeks til Wrestlemania and I cant keep track of the fucks I dont give.
Fucking shitty, predictable booking. Ive been saying this was gonna be HHHs last match since his last match against Lesnar. He never formally retired. Of course hes gonna go out at Wrestlemania. Oh, and heres the problem with booking these big names, and not letting them have a match or do anything until the PPV....if this were 10-12 years ago, when HHH had Heyman by his neck begging for help, you wouldve seen CM Punk come out of nowhere and save him. Then you would have a Punk / HHH match on Raw. They are falling into the same old habit of haviong the 2 guys feuding just fighting/arguing with each other week after week without mixing and matching characters in.
I liked that they threw the PTP's into the mix with Cena, but it was basically as jobbers used to get squashed instead of planting seeds for a feud down the line.
And for those bitching about The Rock not showing up, keep in mind last week Cena didnt show up either, and this week Punk showed up via satellite. Its not just him.

As far as the top tier guys working, you cant risk an injury this close to Mania to a top level guy. I dont hate the Rock, im sure he has prior commitments. I just hate how Vince is essentially using him to try and get his top guy over whos been the top guy for 10 fuckin years. cena and punk aren't the champs right now. wrestlemania season and the champ of the show is off half of the lead ins? bullshit this wouldn't have happened 5 years ago remember when cena was filming the marine and still made every monday except for one I think, I just want dwayne to go away already so we can move on to the guys that aren't just doing it for a G.I.joe plug. It doesnt matter. Even if hes there the angle blows. None of the real wrestling fans want to see this match again. Especially since we know how its gonna end. The build for this event sucks. I dont give a fuck about any of the matches. The only one Im even curious about is Punk / Taker because it hasnt been done and I know they both can deliver.
The Rock coming back got me to watch from January to now instead of just skipping Raw til Mania. Regardless of what hes there to promote, once he leaves hundreds of thousands of viewers will be going away with him. You can keep turning a blind eye to this all you want, but youll see soon enough. I cant wait to hear the excuses for the ratings drop after Mania. You guys have about a month and a half to come up with something since you cant blame MNF now.

Plus, I dont understand where this idea The Rock needs the WWE more than they need him comes from. He used his popularity from there to start his movie career, but that was it. He left wrestling, and still got roles in A-List movies. He dropped "The Rock" from his name, and still scored A-List movies. The guys making like 5 movies a year at this pace. He doesnt need the WWE. He makes more from one movie than hed make working fulltime for Vince for 3 years. Youre gonna compare that to the fucking Marine????? My issue with Rock isn't so much that he came back part time, it's that he is a title holder. He should have said "No, let a full timer hold it". No one forced the title on him. He's supposedly is scheduled for Extreme Rules PPV if I remember correctly. Who he'd face? Idk. And rumor is he is headlining next years WM vs Brock.
But, as far as WM goes, I agree that this year it's too predictable. I know sometimes, some matches can be that way, but a whole card shouldn't be like that, especially with the top matches.

After he completely left WWE he did 11 other movies including Be Cool, Gridiron Gang and the Disney movies while geared to kids, cant be compared to shit like Suburban Commando, Santa with Muscles or The Chaperone. Not to mention he had tons of offers already before coming back to Vince.

He wouldnt have 100% of his roles without them! But that was before. You cant act like without wrestling he couldnt succeed in movies because for 7 years he didnt appear on one WWE program. Not one. Yet his movies still made a shitload of money. And he still had plenty of work. This isnt Hulk Hogan where he decided to leave to make movies, people shit all over them, and he had to come back to wrestling because his career was floundering. Not even close.
In the meantime he comes back and Raws ratings go up by a million viewers literally overnight. Not to mention he helped them launch their social media propaganda as much as I hate it.
This whole "Were gonna watch it even though its garbage" is bullshit. I stopped watching it. From Survivor Series til The Rock came back I didnt watch Raw at all. I even took it off my DVR. Saying the Rock needs the WWE more than they need him is such a laughable statement it really doesn't even warrant a response. But just for shits and giggles lets say you're right... Then please explain to me why the ratings go up when he's on the show? If it's just the WWE fans fueling his success then shouldn't the ratings remain the same? By your logic, yes... But that's not reality. Because among other fans he's perhaps garnered through his movies he's bringing back the fans that have tuned out since the WWE has turned into garbage. The Rock, Dwaayynnneee, has his own fandom separate from the WWE. It doesn' matter what you call him. I'm not pleased with this whole thing, not showing up for RAW as the fucking champion leading into Wrestlemania and how this whole "once in a lifetime part II" shit is going down but to say the WWE makes his career is ludicrous. It launched his career, it doesn't sustain it. Dwayne is doing the WWE a HUUUUGGGEEEE favor by doing this, and by laying down for Cena. If they think this'll give Cena the push he needs to win over the non-vagina having/non-toddler segment of their fan base and former fan base they're kidding themselves. After Wrestlemania I'll go back to not paying attention and so will those million + that have been tuning in to see The Rock. Just the fact he's not showing up for RAW goes to show you exactly who is doing who a favor. It sure isn't WWE.

Where WWE's Future Growth Will Come From:
"Well, over the last few years our core business has been performing well. We generate $75 million to $95 million of EBITDA. Those EBITDA margins have been 16% to 19% so the core business performed well. We have invested a lot in the last couple of years to take advantage some of that growth that we see. And the big strategic thesis for us is the value of content. There is more and more distribution alternatives available. Netflix is one everyone talks about. YouTube not being part of just social video but now real original content. So there's more and more distribution alternatives and it's on a global basis. As a content creator and owner, which makes us unique, we own 100% of the rights of our content. We license them out, we'll license windows but we own it all. And that's a unique position to be in. We think the rising distribution opportunity is driving up the valley of content. In fact, you look at what HBO does to produce Game of Thrones, right? You're talking $10 million to $20 million an episode for 13 hours, right. So now you're in the $150 million to $200 million. That's incredible value. Raw and SmackDown are two franchised programs, average more viewers than any cable network average of prime time. So USA is a number one cable network in the US. It averages about 3 million viewers a week in prime time. Raw and SmackDown, our two top programs, averages more than that. We create a lot of value with the content. That's going to be a big driver for growth."
How WWE Will Monetize The Network & The Break-Even Point:
"Sure. So on the first part, continuing on with our core products, we're going to keep them fully distributed. We think that's a great platform for a network. And we think there's a lot of value as those shows come up for renewal. Our four biggest contracts will be renewed over the next three years. We think that's a great opportunity for us because of the value we deliver. Then to the network, we said we're going to take our pay-per-views. We're one of the preeminent pay-per-view providers today and our pay-per-views are priced anywhere between $49.95 and $59.95 today and we're going to make that the core of a value proposition with a lot of other new content and put it on a premium network so that our fans can subscribe. We said the price will be somewhere between $12.99 or $14.99, to be determined as we go to market but we think that's a real great opportunity. And to your question about breakeven, about a million subscribers because the pay-per-view buyers will migrate over to the network. That's our belief. About a million subscribers, we breakeven at 2 million, it's a really good business; at 3 million to 4 million, for us it's transformative."
Will WWE's Pay-Per-View Business Eventually Go Away?
"We believe over time. We believe the value proposition will be much more powerful to subscribe to a network at $12.99 to $14.99, 24/7, you have the pay-per-views, a lot of great content, our library, a lot of retrospective programming that we're doing that's testing really, really well, we're producing it right now so over time, I think the pay-per-view does go away."

The Rock doesn't need WWE. He is NOT in any way, shape, or form a BIG movie star. B level is about right. Movie gross doesn't mean much considering most movies rake in billions of dollars just by being in a theater.
That being said, WWE doesn't need the Rock either. They just forgot how to make stars and bring in viewers. Even with the Rock and Jericho willing to lay down for some new guys, WWE is dropping the ball. Rock passes the torch to Cena who is starting the downward slide of his in ring days.

The Rock is B+... If his acting run had been in the 80's when it was all about action movies he'd be as big as Arnold. Now comic movies rule so the big action star isn't what it used to be. He's still the go-to guy right now when Hollywood needs an action star. One because he looks the part and two because he doesn't cost as much as a Willis or the like. There's just not a lot of action guys in the A listers anymore.
GOOD FUCKING MOVE HHH (No sarcasm either)
Triple H is making more big changes to WWE's developmental system that could have a profound impact on WWE's next generation of Superstars. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Triple H has pushed for the elimination of lengthy scripts for promos - and for the wrestlers to given general bullet points instead.
Some of the best talkers in wrestling history have gone on record stating that many of today's Superstars never properly learn the art of cutting promos because they are so heavily scripted by WWE's writing team. Working off bullet points will allow the wrestlers to show more of their personalities and require them to improvise a lot more. The idea is that the change will lead to characters being more authentic and not all sounding the same.
This is a much more "old school" approach - something Triple H is known for, compared to his father-in-law Vince.

I'm fading fast again. Might be time to walk away again like I did between WM20 and 27. Sad because I.really love Pro Wrestling and want to watch 90 hours of it a week but can't with this bland WWE product.
I know hes IC champ right now (i come from a day where that was a big deal) but Barrett should be bigger on the show.

At first I thought Cena was trying out a heel turn promo but ended with the whole "Philly fans deserve a winner..." speech that was just pure begging for cheers...which he did not get. Some on here laugh at The Rock bringing up failures from 20 years ago, how about a guy thats won 5 Wrestlemania main events for heavyweight championships claiming this is his chance to prove he can "win the big one"?
I have to say, the Philly fans themselves didnt let me down though. Even though WWE trying pushing it, there were NOT dueling chants tonight. Just CENA SUCKS chants and boos with zero response. That, the booing of Donovan McNabbs name, and the sign in the front row that said STEPH, RESIGN FROM CREATIVE did me proud tonight.

The non competitor aspect has really started to take full effect.
This industry needs a competitor to the WWE fast.
The years of lack of incentive to really exercise creativity has started to show.
They have just lost the desire/ability to create anything. And that has alot to do with them not really having the need to.
Its getting to the point where even the most hardcore fans and even kids past the age of 7 are going to lose interest...
Wrestling is in trouble.
It was in 95, but they had WCW and in 96 the NWO came in forcing Vince to have to do something... That is not the case this time

They were doing that during the Attitude Era too. All they have to do is edit the replays, maybe bleep out the harsher language on them, and leave the live content alone and they could be fine.
They just refuse to accept the fact that marketing strictly to children is going to cost them viewers and fans. Their core audience is males 18-49. And thats the group that for the most part they ignore. Who do you think are the newer viewers sparking the ratings when guys like The Rock and Lesnar are brought back? Its all the males they drove away during the last few years.

Speaking of i saw something with shane douglas on youtube and he was talking about it. Gave props whoever came up with the idea but killed their execution. I think he has a point. Imagine if they ran with it for 9 mos or so, Punk at every indy show, new japan, carrying the belt claiming to be the true champ. Defending it. Etc. Cena chasing him, then have it build up so much, fans posting sightings on youtube...it wouldve been awesome. He came back like 10 days later.

Agreed. It wouldve been brilliant. WWE couldve covered it on their website, used Twitter and their other bullshit social media to show where he was popping up, etc. And it couldve helped out alot of Indy feds as well. Imagine going to sites like LOP and finding out CM Punk showed up at some random indy show at a fire hall or VFW and called out there champ. He wouldnt have to wrestle, as I can imagine WWE being worried about injury, but to have him come out, get in the face of whatever champ was there, and say hes backing his opponent. Stuff like that?
In the meantime WWE couldve made a new belt, had a tournament, have someone like Cena win it, and every few weeks after successfully defending the belt have an announcer bring up the fact Punk was seen at an Indy show in Texas or a Japan show claiming he was the only champ, showing how he was getting under Cenas skin or HHHs or Vinces. It really had potential to be another huge wave for wrestling. Talk about shitting the bed.

Come on now. Why isnt he wrestling? You act like Vince wants him having matches and hes shooting it down. Stop. Hes not wrestling because Vinnie boy doesnt want anyone watching him wrestle for free. At least this time hes letting them fight a little before Mania. Last year WWE wouldnt even let them throw a punch at each other before the match.

Actually I think he's just do Hollywood to wrestle on RAW. Since when does Vince care about someone's outside ventures? Especially when it doesn't line his pockets? Please, The Rock cut his deal to only work Big PPVs and that's it. I'm sure he's also beholden to these movie companies to not get hurt or he'd lose the deal.
Please open your eyes. He did not come back because he loves to wrestle, he came back for $$ and to plug his movies. Vince gets a big star out of it for a few dates because he doesn't know how to make new ones anymore.
Guy like Jericho comes in, wrestles everywhere and puts over how many people but doesn't worry about getting a crushed throat which would effect his ability to sing for his band.

Your view is just retarded. Youre sitting here saying the wrestler whose made more money than any other wrestler in history, came back after 7 years because he wanted more money. Why not come back before that then?
The Rock cut the same kind of deal Lesnar did. A number of appearances. The way they use him for those appearances are up to them. Im sure theres some kind of injury clause and they wouldve had to discuss things like steel cages, ladders or other things that could cause harm, but he has the same risk getting hurt doing a match at Royal Rumble or other PPVs as he does at Mania or on Raw.
With all the shit that leaks out dont you think if The Rock refused to wrestle anywhere but a PPV and Vince wanted him wrestling at Raw but he wouldnt do it, we wouldve heard that by now???? Bottom line, Vince knows millions of people want to see The Rock wrestle, and if he only has him for a limited time, hes gonna make sure they pay $50 every time they do. No free matches. You're a Rock apologist and want to cling on to a by gone era that ISN'T coming back.
My views are hardly retarded, they're spot on to what the MAJORITY of people feel. The Rocks impact on the ratings has flatlined simply because he isn't doing anything "new" or "electrifying".
We will see when the buy rates for this PPV come in. Offering the same main event with NO build-up this time with a predictable ending that I saw coming 3 seconds after the 3 count on Cena last WM. At least I thought they would honor the "Once in a lifetime" gimmick and have the rematch at Summerslam.

Im not a Rock apologist, Im just realistic. A guy thats made $70 million that is getting offered constant movie roles and making more with one movie than he would wrestling full time for a year doesnt need the money. And again, I dont care what the majority of people FEEL, if he were refusing to wrestle anywhere but on PPVs it wouldve been reported by now. The WWE has more leaks than the fucking Titanic.
Also, you talk about a Wrestlemania with no buildup and a predictable ending like its The Rocks fault. He books Wrestlemania now too I guess. Like I said, I respect people that dont like the fact hes part time, but if you dont like the storyline or how the feud is built, blame the people that deserve it, the creative team.

I do blame creative, I blame them for everything wrong with WWE including having to bring in Dewayne Johnson just to try to boost ratings for their failing product.
I blame Vince or whoever negotiated this awful deal with Dwayne and Lesner for agreeing to these BS terms because they think they need them.
I blame the Rock for taking the deal and walking in saying how "he's home" and loves WWE when his phoney ass spent 7 years trying to deny he was even in wrestling. I blame him because he is the current reigning WWE Champion and the whole company is on his juiced up shoulders. The person holdin the belt should be the main draw of the PPV (not that they ever gave Punk that chance but whatever) and he has major impact on his own "character" direction. He's excepting this mediocre build when him and Cena don't have too. So that just tells me he's there for the check.

The person holdin the belt should be the main draw of the PPV (not that they ever gave Punk that chance but whatever) and he has major impact on his own "character" direction. He's excepting this mediocre build when him and Cena don't have too. So that just tells me he's there for the check.
I dont have a problem with any of this. The weird part is, the man holding the belt is the main draw for Mania, unlike last year. Its just that the storyline blows because its already been done. Its weird because rematches have happened in wrestling a million times, but the problem is this feud hasnt evolved at all. Nothing has changed from last year. Their beef is basically the same thing. Fucking terrible.
That being said, the terms they gave both Rock and Lesnar are what they are because they DO need them. Their ratings blow without those guys or other big name stars popping up. Theyre failure to make stars is what give guys like that the leverage they need to make those deals.

We're over an hour into the go home WM show and your current reigning WWE champed is being billed as "returning tonight" and still hasn't shown his face..
WWE is treating WM like Capital Punishment or something.

Raw sucked tonight. Their entire creative team and style of writing the show needs to go. They refuse to mix any characters into storylines. Its this guy is fighting with that guy and he cant fight with anyone else unless its a squash before they get to the PPV. They dont have mid carders anymore. They have a handful of main eventers and a roster full of "enhancement talent". Guys like Ziggler, Bryan, Rhodes, Sandow, the Shield and others are wasted as time fillers on this show. Its really a shame.
The fact that Cenas not a heel is a joke too. Its not split crowds anymore. Someone mentioned it earlier, there is no more Lets Go Cena chants. Its just Cena Sucks, followed by boos, and as of tonight, followed with Boring chants. Unless they plan to just run through Alabama, Mississippi and the south, its pointless keeping him as a face.
Once The Rock and Lesnar leaves, unless they have another big name planned to come in ratings are gonna nosedive this summer. And they fucking deserve it.
One last thing, Paul Heyman is one of the greatest parts of their roster. They need to use him more. His imitation of Paul Bearer was so spot on tonight that for a couple seconds I thought Vince had really swerved everyone by faking his death. The fucking guy is the best.

I'm not going to even comment on the actual show. You guys about covered it.
Paul Heyman is out there doing gods work at this point. I never thought there could be a manager equal to Heenan in my lifetime, but if there is anyone coming close it's Heyman.

and how does he help sell it anyway ?
him being there isn't gonna change anyone's mind to buy the ppv
and him bring there at all is meaningless unless he were to super kick trips and help Brock win but he's not a full timer , hell he isn't even a part timer so there'd be no point in that
