I dont think alot of people know just how important Cyndi Lauper was to Vince and the WWF in the 80s. Ive read tons of wrestling books about that period and just about every one of them give a ton of credit for Wrestlemanias popularity to her and her husband / manager Dave Wolfe. (Tonight when Roddy said about them 2 making it happen Lauper even said "and Dave")

It was Wolfes idea, and it got them a TON of mainstream exposure on MTV and NBC just at the perfect time, as they were trying to hype up Mania 1. Plus unlike Mr. T they both were supposedly very easy to work with and willing to do anything to sell the angle.

When you step back and look at it theyve got a point too. I mean if Mania bombed the WWF wouldve went out of business, guaranteed. And even if it didnt bomb, the WWF never wouldve gotten the exposure it got if it werent for Laupers and Wolfes idea to do the Rock and Wrestling thing. Thats what got them on MTV, thats what got them a cartoon, Hogans SI cover, Saturday Nights Main Event, etc. The WWF never wouldve blown up like they did without that exposure.

To be honest, I havent been able to understand why Laupers not in their HOF. Shes contributed alot more then guys like Drew Carey.

As for TNA, the only hope they have is new ownership. Dixie Carter has too much power and too little creative vision and they're too focused on reinventing themselves to compete immediately. They need someone with money and patience to provide funding while someone who knows what they're doing can build the brand in a meaningful way in order to compete.

I'm glad TNA stars are really starting to shine a bit. TNAs new format isn't 100% hitting on all cylinders yet but their programming the past few months is easily some of the best work they put together and blows RAW away. Ironically all since Russo left. The AJ Styles / Dixie carter bullshit is the last of his work still on TV and it's rather obvious as that angle is one of the most retarded angles in existance.. Everything else in TNA is fine and awesome.. What they are doing now with AA is just amazing.. Building up the X-Division at the same time making AA a main eventer.. AA and his Cape are awesome.

So glad to see a majority turning against WWE. It will never even be remotely close to what it once was until senile Vince dies. Then we can only hope HHH brings some attitude and balls back to the stale and sterile product..

Overall Raw was good, but way too much with the AJ bullshit. I liked this gimmick years ago when it was Mickie James before they blatantly stole it and gave it to this chick. But that was because it was her chasing a diva, not the WWE champ. Its amazing how they took someone who was as hot as Punk was, and completely fucked his run up to the point where hes opening Raw every week. While King Cena is in another main event. I dont give a fuck who the belt is on, if youre not main eventing at least some of the time, youre no champ.

Big Show is growing on me for the first time in awhile. I like how they are making him a monster.

Sids face looked like he aged 40 years. It speaks to the pathetic state the WWE is in that half the crowd had no idea who he was. Normally I wouldnt like them jobbing out younger talent to old guys coming in for one time appearances, but I dont mind because Slater is just dogshit and once this ends well never see him again.

Not a fan of pole matches but Ziggler shouldve won that match clean. They job him 2 weeks in a row to Sheamus then a no decision against Del Rio. I dont know how the WWE doesnt see how good he is and how he should be pushed. Yet they plan on still pushing Orton after a 2nd failed drug test because they feel they lack "star power". Unreal.

Vicki was good as GM. I dont care what anyone says, she plays a great heel.

I thought they were setting up for it with Vickie repeating all of the names. They could have just simply had him say "Eddie Guerrero" and have Vickie sell it for a bit and then walk out on him.

That whole "Summer of Punk" program that ROH did with him from the time it became known he was headed to the WWE until he actually left was done so well.

From that promo to his "WWE Contract Signing" in the middle of the ROH ring, to battles with Lethal, Daniels, Joe, Colt, Austin Ares...shit he even got people excited about Jamie Noble. They used him to get multiple wrestlers over on his way out & still didn't make him look like an ass or a jobber riding out his lame duck contract.

It was the kind of booking that makes me miss ECW & loathe WWE for not living up to it.
